Fiberfest Overload!!
Had a great time at the Hemlock, NY fiberfest on Saturday! Walked in and didn't know where to begin ~~
The yarns were absolutely beautiful~~every type you could possibly want!! I was intrigued by all the homespun, of course.
I went hoping to find a "Babe" wheel but didn't see any there. The only good thing about that I was then free to spend my limited dollars on other things!! And spend I did~~I picked up not one, but two spindles!! So if you get new spindles naturally you must get some roving, right?? I did purchase two different types but now have no idea what they are! I hopefully bought enough of each to make socks once spun. I can't wait to say "I made these totally from beginning to end" well, with some help from the sheep!
Ater a couple walks around the buildings I was totally overwhelmed! Too bad it was so darn cold out--it would have been nice to take a break and really give some thought to what to purchase~~but hey, even without the break I did ok.
Took a couple pictures of the Alpacas~~they have the cutest faces!! You just wanted to grab them and give em a hug!! Did see some Angora goats that were awfully cute, too. hhmmmm, wonder where I could hide one of those?
Did start a new pair of socks the other day with some yarn I got through ebay. Decided this time I would start both at once~~got to the heel flap and they were waayyy too big!! So not only one sock to frog but two--how annoying is that? Anyway I did start them again yesterday while sitting outside in the yard enjoying the beautiful fall day. Today I have the first one to the gusset stitches and I'll start the second after trying them on again to be sure they're right! I'll take some progress photos later.
Yesterday morning DH and I found a nature walk that's only about 10 minutes from home! Amazing we've lived here almost 30 years and never knew it was there. Perfect day for a hike in the woods. Found a waterfall back there and someone had some benches placed in a spot right near the falls to take a much needed rest! Next time I'm taking a soda!!
Off to knit~~have a great day

Waving!!
They are finally finished!! Spent a good part of the afternoon finishing my wave socks~~so much for "only about an hour of knitting" They are definitely worth it tho~~I'm really happy with the way they turned out~and they fit!!
This was the first time that I carried the pattern down the foot. I think I would like to try this pattern again using the no cable needle method. I would think once you get the hang of it that it would be faster.
Not sure what I'll do next~~I'm starting to get a small stash of yarn~~so at least now I have a few choices.
Too late tonight to start anything and I'm tired so I'll wait until I get home tomorrow and decide.
The weather today was nice again and tomorrow is supposed to be nicer yet. Maybe I'll cut the grass and surprise DH. Then again~~maybe not!
Can't wait until the weekend to go the fiberfest~~that could be trouble!!
Ok--going to get a wave photo on here~~

Weekend's over
What a nice weekend~~weather was absolutely beautiful!! Perfect fall weather, sunny warm with a slight breeze.
Some of the trees are turning colors already--looks like we're in store for some great fall foliage!
Dh surprised me today with a day at Mumford the restoration village. I really enjoy that place~~it's so peaceful there. I imagine that it would be a great place to work. Probably don't make much $$ but the atmosphere is wonderful.
Talked with one of the woman spinners there and she gave me a small sample of Romney roving to spin--it's sooo soft!!
Next weekend is the fiberfest in Hemlock,NY. I've never been to one so I'm really looking forward to going. Hoping the weather holds out for a couple more weeks!
Apple umkin craft show in Wyoming,NY is in two weeks and then Letchworth show Columbus Day weekend~~all these fun things coming up before the white stuff starts flying!!
Worked on my waves Saturday but just can't seem to get them finished! I'm right at the last pattern repeat on the foot and then to do the toe decreases~~probably not more than a hours knitting left. Tomorrow for sure they will be done.
I've already been looking through the patterns I have to get some ideas for my next project. Haven't heard anything about the Magic loop class yet so I guess I'll start something else.
So many ideas~~~

Another week
I can't believe that another week has gone by since I've been here!!
Had a nice b'day~~DD and friend came over for dinner and they made me my chocolate cake!!
Enjoyed my gifts~~presents are always fun!
Love getting CD's I want and won't buy for myself~~and a new sweater in the prettiest fallish(is that a word?) orange.
Now I have a DVD player all my own to watch all those sappy movies dh doesn't want to watch!!
Friday mid-day dh stopped home and surprised me with a windmill I've been wanting~~tried to put it together myself and that was NOT happening!! Saturday when he got home we did it together--what a job that was!! Have to get a picture of it.
Sunday we went to Toronto to the CNE--that was fun but a very long day. Way too much walking for me!
We saw the Canadian RMP's~~they did a performance with their horse that was excellent!! It was amazing to watch the maneuvers with perfect timing! The dog show was very entertaining as usual. They really do look like they're enjoying themselves. Always take time to watch the horse show--beautiful animals ~~
Still working on the second wave sock --but making good progress finally! Working on the gusset now and hope to get past that before bed! Already thinking ahead to the next project!
Received my bottle swap from the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whenever/ . Actually mine was sent in a box instead of a bottle but that's ok--never could have fit everything in a bottle! I was happy to get some Sockotta in a really nice blue color. Have never used this before. Also some Regia in Partie color--fun color.
There are a couple x-stitch patterns that would look really nice done up for my craft room. That means a trip to my favorite x-stitch shop to get just the right fabric!! Any excuse!!
Well, I've rambled on long enough for tonight so I'd better get back to my socks or I'm going to be up all night to make my goal before bed!!
Happy knitting~~~
