It was a beautiful sunny day today!! It could have been a tad warmer for me but all in all a nice day! Went by so fast~~got up early and had coffee and read a bit then went out and did a couple errands. Got home and took the dogs out in the yard for awhile~~Sophie thinks that Ivy(greyhound) is her special toy!! I'm really surprised that Ivy puts up with her!
Went and picked up DS and when we got back DD was here too! Course when she's here she gets all the animals going! What a pain!! lol~~
KK got home while they were still here and next thing I knew we're having a party here next weekend!! OMG~~do you know how much needs to be done around here???? The back deck needs staining in the worst way and the front porch needs sanding and painting!! Guess who is going to be going nuts this next week?? Wonder how much I'll get done??
Tomorrow is our anniversary! For all those who thought " it'll never last" this is
#36!!!! Can you imagine??? Seems impossible ~~I can't be old enough to be married that long! I was a child bride! I think back to how crazy we were~~we knew each other only three months and here we are 36 years later! We didn't have our daughter for 11 years and we used to joke that we wanted to prove that it wasn't a "have to" thing! Where does the time go???
KK took the day off but as far as I know we don't have anything special planned. I'm sure we'll go somewhere for dinner but don't know what we're doing during the day. Maybe picking out stain?? How exciting!!
Working on the second sleeve of the orange sweater but I broke my needle!! So that is one stop I'll want to make tomorrow~~I need my needles!!
This is a rambling post sort of random thoughts floating around~~my tower is making that weird noise again so I'm getting off for now.

Still Here!!

Well, I'm back and so far nothing has happened with that noise! I haven't heard it at all this evening since I've been on. Keeping fingers crossed ~~ I wouldn't know what to do if I lost this thing! Getting a new one is certainly not in the budget for some time! Since I'm the only one who really uses this it wouldn't be top priority to replace.
Today was really nice! Got up to 70 later in the afternoon. DD is on vacation this week so KK and I picked her up this morning and headed out for the day. KK asked her where she'd like to go ~~she says "Tim Horton's?" lol~~I definitely raised that girl right!! So that was our first stop and then on to the Wednesday flea market waaayyy the heck out in the middle of nowhere!! It's an interesting place to say the least! I've never been to a flea market where they have chickens,calves,turkeys etc. and I do mean live ones!! Lots of flowers of course this time of year. Nice to see all the varieties~~almost makes me want to do "something" in the yard!! Notice I did say "almost". KK did get me a flowering shrub that smells heavenly!! Course I already forgot what it's called!! It has cluster type white flowers~~pretty. I have no idea where I'm going to plant it but I'm sure I'll find a spot.
Finished the first sleeve of the orange sweater. Tomorrow I'll cast on the second one. I'm going to work a bit on the socks tonight before bed.
I'm looking forward to a day to stay home~~all this running around has done me in. Only have to go out for a hair cut in the afternoon and then right back here to knit!

Noise???

I'm jumping on here quick to say that I have a sinking feeling I may be losing my computer!! I haven't posted for awhile because I haven't felt up to par the last week. Now this morning when I came down here I'm hearing this strange sound??? It's the computer tower~all of a sudden it sounds like it's racing then slowing down?? Doesn't sound good whatever it is! At first I thought it was my imagination but no~~
I started my orange sweater~~the first sleeve is almost done~~I'm at the shoulder decreases. There's about 15 more rows then on to the second one.
Weather is nasty again~~cold!! There was a frost last night. Was going to DD's today she's on vacation this week and we were going to start her a garden. Not doing that today!! Poor plants must be shivering in their pots!!
Must get going so if I'm not on for a bit you know what happened!! I'm going to shut this off for the day and I'll try to get on tonight~~wish me luck!!
Sophie is three months today!! Growing like mad all of a sudden!! The photos of her is from yesterday~~leave it to her to find the single dandelion in the back yard!!

Tonight is knit night at Lynn's
I'm hoping to go. I stayed up last night and turned the heel of sock one and this morning while KK is getting the car looked at I'm going to do the second.(if I ever get off here)
I got the sweater pattern Lynn is doing and I'd like to take it with me and have her help me get it started. I'm not sure what size I should do. This is what I got that orange cotton-ease for. Course Lisa probably has hers all finished!! She's doing one in the same orange!
I can't sit here any longer that sock is calling me to get that heel done!! So, more coffee,get dressed and knit until KK gets back!

Working on the Opal socks for Heather
They're coming along nicely. To the heel flap on both. I'd like to get to the gusset stitches tomorrow. Have things to do out so not sure how much knitting I'll get in.
Hope all you "mom's" had a great Mother's Day! I had a wonderful one! DD's brunch was so nice!! Other than she cut her finger (on a butter knife) just as we got there everything went well. The weather added the perfect touch!
KK surprised me with the cutest ceramic piece~~I saw it weeks ago at Kirklands and I cracked up! It's three frogs sitting on a log and the words Live Laugh Love are carved in the log. I have that saying hanging in my "studio". He also got me a cd player belt to wear when walking. I've wanted one for the cd player DD gifted me with. Ds is picking up a soft-crate for Sophie so I can take her in the car.
DD did a couple photos of Sophie and framed one for me. I kept saying I wanted a "real" picture of her not just the ones on here.
Enough rambling for tonight I need to get some sleep!!

Titles are a Pain!

When there is nothing exciting to write about how can you come up with a catchy title?? ya can't and I'm not going to try anymore!
Nothing much going on today~~the weather was great~~at least compared to what we have had. It was warm and sunny and it's going to stay that way through the weekend. How nice for Mother's Day!!
Sophie had her second vet visit which went well and didn't cost me a fortune! Had her second set of puppy shots which she did not like! She weighed in at 2.4 lbs!! Wow, growing like a weed! Went to Pet Smart and got her a harness~~had to get the smallest one they had and she's got room. She didn't seem to mind having it on which surprised me.
I did start the first pair of Opal socks today.After three false starts I hope I have the right amount of stitches. I've got the ribbing done on both so I really don't want to start again!
I have the yarn for my F&F shawl~~I'll post a photo in a minute~~it's awesome!! Schafer 50% wool ~~50% silk!! I won't let myself start it until this pair of socks is completed because these are for my friend. Mine I can do anytime.
Another great package came from Justine
Can you believe a pink chibi???? You do realize one of these was on ebay and the last I heard the bid was $51!!! Is that absolutely nuts???? I don't even want to open the package--it's in Chinese!! Justine also included a couple stitch markers she made!! Thank you Justine, I love them!!
I have the worst indigestion tonight~~I know it's from that meatloaf I made for dinner. I hate meatloaf!!! I had a brainstorm at the market the other day~~I bought some ground pork to add to the ground beef. It was good actually ~~for meatloaf that is. You'd think after almost 36 years of making KK meatloaf(his favorite) I'd have come up with a good way to disguise it!! yuk~~

New Shop

My friend and I went to a new shop this afternoon!! I should say new to us~~it was terrific! By far this was the best shop I've ever been in so far. It's located in Rochester,NY and called Spirit Work
Talk about fiber overload~~you really didn't know what to look at first!
When I get like that I head straight for the sock yarn! They carried Opal so I was thrilled!! They had the Opal solids too which I think next time I go I will pick some up. My friend Heather
chose a skein for socks for her that I'll knit up and she purchased the skein I picked for me as payment for knitting her pair. Worked out well for both of us!
I was happy to find the 40" addi circulars I've been trying to find. I decided two sets was the thing to do. Now I can do both socks at once working back and forth between the two on needles that match in size.
This is definitely a shop that I'll go back to even tho it took us about 1 1/2 hrs. to get there. Better start saving my $$~~

Great Mail Day!!

A day that started out down in the dumps took a turn for the good after the mail came!! KK and I went out grocery shopping and when we came home there was a package on the steps~~it was to me and Sophie!!! I'm thinking "what could this be?"
What a surprise when I opened it~~Dani
Sent us a package!! I couldn't even wait to put the groceries away I had to open it immediately!! There was a Boston Terrier magazine for me and for Sophie a bag of the cutest smallest biscuits I've ever seen!! Taped to the front of the bag were two tiny greenies!! I'm such a sap over this puppy~~when I saw all that I felt big tears in my eyes~~how silly,huh?? I just could not believe that she did this!! This was one of the sweetest RAOK's I've ever received!! A very big "hug" and "Thank you" to Dani!!!!
Now you know that I had to take pictures~~Mz Sophie agreed and posed with the goodies!! Couldn't get her to stay still tho~~she was quite busy trying to figure out how to get to the biscuits!! She has never had one yet and she loved these!! They are the perfect size for her!!
Finished my Knit Picks socks yesterday~~I'll get a photo of them on too. Can't decide what to start next. I'm trying to find a set of 40" circulars but so far no luck locally.
I think my friend and I are going to go to a yarn shop we've never been to tomorrow so maybe I'll find some there. Keep your fingers crossed!!
My ebay yarn came too~~I can't wait to see how it works up! I hope it does some thing different than stripes. In the photo they had it looks like it pools~~I hope so!

Isn't it nice?? I just can not decide what yarn to use for it. Of course I don't have enough of anything already. This is what I was thinking of ordering the Shimmer yarn from Knit Picks for. I'm not sure if it would be a heavy enough weight for this particular pattern. I wish I knew someone who did it so I could ask what they think. I don't want this to be heavy~~I'd like it light and drapey. Make sense?
Seems when I want to start a new project I can not get myself to settle down until I do. I've been sort of wandering around the house this morning. Laundry is in and I dusted and that's a good thing but I keep thinking about those socks I want done!!
Today!! Not gonna happen!!
Well, I'm going to vacuum real quick throw laundry in the dryer and then I'm sitting down and knitting!! Maybe I'll be back later!

I'm giving this one try tonight before I get too tired!!I've been trying to add links and I can not get it! How hard can it be? So read on and you'll hopefully see a working link!!
Now this should be interesting! Since I'm here I might as well write something!
had the b'day dinner last night at the Outback and it was soooo good!! The best steak I've had in quite awhile! After dinner I was so full I couldn't even stand the thought of a couple beers! We promised DD we'd go to this pub she likes~~it has every odd beer you can think of! Cherry wheat, Apricot wheat and so many more I can't remember! I hated them all~~nasty!! I mean if I'm going to drink beer just give me a plain ole draft! I know~~cheap date!! KK didn't like any of them either! They had a jazz band there and the one type of music I really don't like??? Yep, you guessed it, jazz! Well at least DD was happy we finally went.
I had an interesting post from the Boston Terrier list I'm on. Some people litter box train their Bostons. Now I thought that they were too big for that but apparently not. Living in a raised ranch makes housebreaking very difficult. The back door is downstairs and Sophie can't even start to use the stairs so guess who would be trained?? I don't know if I'm up to running up and down the stairs 3/4 times in an hour. With this damp cold weather we're having the Fibro is really acting up and it always targets my legs the worst. The last few days I just want to sit with my feet up! So I'm going to give this some thought.
I did manage to do a inch or so on the sock foot. I'd like to have these done by Wednesday just in case my ebay yarn shows up that day!
I got a nice surprise in yesterday's mail! I got RAOK'ed by
Marina with some wonderful Lavender sachets!! They smell terrific!! Course Lavender is my favorite scent!!
Speaking of it my Lavender is not showing any signs of life yet this year. I'll be really disappointed if it didn't make it through the winter.

Shouldn't be here!!

What am I doing here you ask???? This is not my time to do this posting thing. It's waaayyyy to early for me! I'm trying very hard to stay awake!! It is so dreary and nasty today all I feel like doing is taking a nap! I never take naps! I look around the house and the dogs are no help ~~they are all SLEEPING!! I feel like I should bang a couple pots together and get them up like they do me at the crack of dawn!! I won't but the urge is definitely there!!
I should be working on completing my sock so I can start something new!! I really,really want to start something new but won't let myself until that sock is done!
You did see that orange yarn that jumped into my arms??? You really have to watch that going through the yarn isles ~~a person could get hurt! Anyway what on earth am I going to do with it??? Besides admire it in the Longaberger basket it's laying in!
I guess I could go through the couple magazines I have and see if there is a pattern I like. I don't even know if I bought enough to do anything with! Hmmm, maybe I should go back and pick up a couple more skeins "just in case"!
Doesn't Lisa (new blog/knitting buddy) send me the ebay link to this kewl sock yarn. It does this weird stripy/pooling thing I love. Yeah, you guessed it~~I had to do the "BUY IT NOW" thing! This is such a sickness~~"hello, my name is Mar and I'm a yarn addict" don't even snicker ~~you all got it too!!
Now if I could just figure out how to do this inserting blog links to my posts I'd be a happy blogger! I tried for quite awhile last night but I'll blame that stupidity on my bleary/tired eyes! Which means I probably shouldn't try again now~~I'll wait~~someday you'll be surprised when I figure it out!

Birthday week!

This is something I should have given more thought to those 25 years ago!! Why would you want to have your two kids and DH's birthday all within three days of each other??? hmmmm??? Most have been those warm balmy summer nights got to me!
I always hate this week~~I'm never prepared for it and it comes every year~~you'd think after all this time I'd be ready for it!! It used to be three cakes,three days of gift-giving. Well at least we are past that and lumped them all together!!
Tomorrow night we are going out for dinner and gift giving. All in one evening~~yeah!!
I did break down and bake one cake so I didn't feel too guilty~even offered to take KK out for lunch on his B'day since it fell on his day off. He picked a place and off we went. When it was time to pay he says "put your $$ away~~save it" huh??? Ok, didn't have to tell me twice!! But save it??? After lunch I ask him what would he like to do now?? He doesn't care so I say it just happens we could go home right past the yarn shop that I really like!! He doesn't mind and says "thanks for taking me to the yarn shop for my b'day!" Was that sarcasm??? I'm thinking probably but what the heck we were so close!!
We get there and I'm looking for a certain yarn that I saw there awhile back that they were going to order for my friend and I. We hadn't heard from them so I figured it wasn't in. The clerk and I go through this whole huge display of yarn checking to see if there's any hidden away since she tell me they can't get it anymore!! You know when you get something stuck in your mind and you can't get it out?? I wanted that yarn!! To make a long story short I left with nothing!!! Not even sock yarn!! KK was floored!! But the whole point of my rambling is I called the shop to try to get the name of the yarn so I could maybe find it on here and I get the owner and she very sweetly says "I have your yarn right here!" WHAT??? She had it in the back on her desk and never called to let us know she got it!! Now I'm in sticker shock when I heard the price~~maybe I don't really need a shawl out of that particular yarn? We'll see~~it's still on hold!
It just happens that two doors down is my favorite x-stitch shop ~~since I was there I had to stop in, right??? Of course! As it turns out as soon as I stepped through the door I'm thinking that I had something ordered. I did ~~buttons to embellish a couple small samplers that I totally forgot I had! I had to check out the new small charts and found a couple I liked. So I didn't get out of there empty handed! Didn't want a wasted trip!
One evening touring blog land I ran across a blog that mentioned the town where I live. What a surprise!! I sent out an email and come to find out she lives a mere half hour from me!! Immediately
Lynn
sent me an invite to come join her knitting group!! How cool was that?? Unfortunately I couldn't make it that night but she asked me for the next one and I went last night!! It was great!! How nice to get a night out for knitting! But as it is with many things there is a downside to this~~they are BAD!!! Enablers all of them!! Bad influence!! When did I ever even look at cotton yarn???? NEVER~~until last night~~there was this wonderful orange getting knitted into a sweater that I kept eyeing. Should I?? What will I even do with it??? It's not sock yarn~~I don't "do" clothes but it is such a great color!! hmmmm,maybe a summer tank??
What fun seeing all the other yarns too~~the very Knit Picks Shimmer yarn I was considering Lynn had and in the same color I was thinking of ordering!! After handling it I need it too!!Then there was this sock yarn~~~ this has got to stop!!!
Not only do they have all this yarn to fondle but they tell me about a yarn shop that seems fairly easy to find! This is going to be bad~~really bad~~

What a life!

Made it through

the weekend! Barely!! Don't know why I get so obsessive about cleaning before a party. Once the people are all in the house who can tell or cares if something isn't perfect? You'd think after all these years I'd realize that and relax? No~~I got up early on Sat and started right in cleaning and never stopped except for a couple coffee breaks until it was time for me to get ready! Needless to say by the time everyone was here I was exhausted!!
Once the wine tasting started I really didn't care how tired I was! We had a good time~~lots of snacks/wine and friends! The wine tasting contest was fun--the same couple won the best and the worst bottle!!Everyone had a good chuckle out of that!
We had the most delicious strawberries I have ever tasted!! They were huge and chocolate coated~to die for!! I could have eaten the whole platter full by myself~~course being the good hostess I didn't :(
Sophie was the hit of the party!! Every time I looked someone else was holding her. Then I'd put her back in her pen and a little while later I'd see someone had her again! Maybe that was good becasue she slept in on Sunday morning and believe me I needed too also!! Matter of fact I slept most of the day~~don't think I'll be drinking any more wine for quite awhile!!
Really didn't feel too good today either!
If you noticed on the side there I've added a new button~~I'm going to try the Fan and Feather shawl!! I read the pattern over a couple times and it doesn't look too difficult. I still haven't decided what yarn to use yet. There are a couple from Knit Picks that look interesting but I'm not sure if they would work for the shawl.
I've joined a shawl list so hopefully I'll get more info there.
I did start the second Knit Picks sock and it's coming along good. I'd like to get it done this week.

Quiet Day

Not much going on here today. I was so tired this morning that after feeding the dogs I scooped Sophie up and took her back to bed with me!! Good thing Kk was asleep!
I really didn't get to sleep soundly tho because I was so worried that she'd either fall off the bed or I'd roll over on her! I did get to doze a little until I felt something grabbing my pj's~~you can guess who!
What a difference a few days make in the development of a puppy!! All of a sudden she's gone from this quiet/meek sleeping eating machine to this little wacky bundle of biting energy!!lol~~I feel better~~she's acting like a puppy!! She's even playing with the chew toy my SP4 sent her!
I've been trying to get things looking good around the house for the up-coming wine tasting night. Seems it's endless cleaning tho~~
I really need to get into my "studio" and straighten it up. I don't even want to sit in there it's too messy!! I think I'm going to try to get a trunk to store all or most of my stash in. My friends dh has a nice antique one I've got my eye on~and he'll sell it at a fair price I'm just not 100% sure I want a trunk. I was thinking a nice old oak small dresser would look nice too. I've got just the spot for it.
Decisions,decisions~~
I did transplant a few of my succulent/cactus today. That's something I've wanted to get to for a couple weeks. I lost one of my floor plants over the winter and don't know why. For awhile there it looked better but now it's history! I can't wait for the weather to get really nice so I can get the others out on the deck.
Course I just heard the weather report and they are saying we're going to get a storm coming through over the weekend and it's going to bring snow!! What the hell is up with that??? Snow the end of April???? I can't stand it~~
I cast on my second Knit Picks sock this evening but didn't get too far with it. Didn't even get through the ribbing but tomorrow is another day!!

Things are looking up!!

Kind of a catchy title ~~don't ya think?? Well what it means is I'm finally getting some sleep so my mood has improved. My darling "Sophie" has decided it's ok to go to sleep without crying and keep quiet until about 6a.m.!! We'll have to work on that 6 business but it's definitely a step in the right direction! I'll add a couple pictures when I'm done here.
I received the neatest package yesterday!! Kim Smit from the Whenever group sent me a knitted parrot!!! She's awesome!! She now lives on the back of the futon in my "studio". Thank you Kim, I love her!!
My package from my SP4 arrived too!! She sent me the greatest color of Koigu sock yarn!! I've never seen it in person but have heard so many raves about it and now I have some for myself!! I was thrilled!! She also included the cutest little sheep clips!! AND she made me some stitch markers!!! She put them in a little metal container so I can keep them right in my knitting bag!! What a great secret pal she is!! I don't know who she is~~yet!! I must confess I have checked some blogs trying to find her!! lol~~~
On a knitting note I finally finished my first Opal socks!! Yeah!! I really like them and they fit well. I didn't try to match them and I'm still quite satisfied with the way they turned out. I did have a bit of trouble with the heel for some reason~~I tried slipping the stitches differently than I usually do and I won't do it that way again.
Haven't decided what to start next. I'm ready for something so tomorrow KK works late I'll have a chance to get something started.
We are having a small wine tasting party Sat. night so I've got to get some cleaning done too. May save that for Friday tho~~

Time for bed Yet??

Now does that title give you a hint of just how tired I am??? I honestly don't remember going through this with any other dogs we have had. Sophie is up all night!! She sleeps a couple hours at a time~~if I'm lucky!! She sleeps in her crate with nice padding and her stuffed toy~~I've got a blanket wrapped around part of it so she feels warm and secure~~does it help??? NO!!!! I've been up every morning between 5&6 ~~I refuse to get up during the night with her~~I try to cover my ears and go back to sleep!! Sometimes it works!
I was thinking today that I was awfully crabby~~then it dawned on me it's because I'm so tired! I sat on the porch to read~~it was so nice in the sun and next thing I knew the phone startled me~~I was passed right out!! Geesh, hope I didn't snore!!
Sophie's doing good tho~~I can tell she's grown a little bit~~she's so darn cute!!
We're working on the paper training and sometimes she does really great and then it's like she totally forgets the whole idea of what the papers are for!!
Hope it warms up a bit more so I can get her outside~~I took her out yesterday for a little while but she started shivering so in we came.
No knitting is getting done. I did a few rows on the Opal sock but I wasn't in the mood so I put it away. I am past the heel and now it's just straight to the toes.
Should go quick once I get at it.
The lys called yesterday~~they got the Cascade 220 in that I was interested in for the entralec bag. Not sure when I'll get to that.
Heard from my sp4~~I've got a package coming so that's something to look forward to!!Maybe that will be the motivation I need to get back to knitting!

Puppyhood

Ok, I admit it this puppy thing is knocking me out! I am absolutely exhausted!!I can't even think straight at 6 a.m.! Now I remember one of the reasons I can no longer work!!I tried putting her to bed earlier last night becasue I was so tired~~which worked fine until 3!! I thought there is no way in hell I'm getting up at 3!! So she cried a bit then she was quiet until 6~~six I can deal with~~barely! Good thing she's so darn cute!!
This must be the part I blocked from my memory!
The weather the last few days has been so nice. The yard is finally dried up and I was able to take her outside. The grass was not a big hit! So funny watching her try to walk!!
Needless to say no knitting has gotten done. There are so many projects running through my mind tho~~I'd really like to start the entrelac bag while the technique is still with me! The suede shawl is calling to me every time I walk into my room~~actually that would be an ok thing to work on it's just plain knit. hmm, I'll have to give that idea some thought~~if I can stay awake long enough.

Never, and I do mean never hit the delete key until you are sure you know what you are doing! Ask me how I know if you delete the photos of buttons in photobucket they are no longer on your blog?? Like I said "lesson learned"!!
Puppy news~~first night went really well~~second night not so good!! This really is like having a baby in the house!! I swear my eyes are closing as I type this!
Needless to say a lot of snuggling but not much knitting got done!

What on Earth

am I doing on here at this hour you ask??? I've been up for two hours already!! What's with that???? Well, hey, a baby in the house changes things!!lol~~ even a four footed one!
I'm now typing with this fur-ball inside my robe~~not quite sure who is keeping who warm! She did quite well last night~~cried for about 10 minutes when I put her in her bed and then she slept until 6--noon would have been nicer but what the heck!!
Fed and played for about 45 minutes and thought she'd go back to sleep since she kept dozing off on me. Tried to put her back in her bed but that just didn't pan out! It's KK's morning off so I didn't want to wake him.
Guess who will be napping this afternoon??

Snow???

Who would have thought it??? It's nasty outside! I just want to go back to bed! It looks wet/snowy/icy/windy~yuk! They predicted this but not until late tomorrow. This is really annoying after having a 70 degree day on Thursday!! I've even been in the yard cleaning up a bit. Now there's no grass to be seen again.

sent me the "Sock It To Me" yarn. Thank you so much~~ I think it may just have to be my next sock!
I have a new theory~~you're gonna love this one! Too help with SSS I was thinking(bad sign,right there) what if you do one sock in~~let's say an Opal yarn~~then do the next sock in ummm, a Knit Picks yarn, then another in whatever~~get the idea?? Then go back to the Opal and so on down the line. Course this will only work if you know you will actually go back to the original yarns. I'm trying this~~I have one Knit Picks sock finished and now I'm doing the Opal. I think maybe three should be the limit tho~~this could really get you into trouble, well sock wise anyway! This way you wouldn't get bored with any one particular yarn or color. I've been doing just a basic sock so the pattern won't get confusing. I've actually been writing down what I'm doing as I go along too, so to go back won't be a problem.
I'll let you know how this works out!!
DD is coming over today to help clean and rearrange the family room. My back is killing me so I'd never get done myself. I'm trying to have all the big spring cleaning jobs finished before the pup comes home!
Speaking of "the pup" did I mention she has a name??? I'm fairly sure she is a
"Sophie" !! KK mentioned that name and I think it suits her. Just want I wanted too~~girlie old fashioned type name! I'll know for sure once she's here.
Well, I must get going~~would be nice if I was at least dressed when dd gets here and I should really start to pick up some of the odds and ends in the family room to save some time.

SP4 package

Happy Easter

Well, that was an original title~~don't ya think?? We had a nice relaxing day today.
Slept in a bit then had coffee and knitted and KK was still snoozing. That's unusual for him. DD called her furnace quit and her house was down to 58~~I laughed because we turn our heat down every night and some mornings it's that cold in here and the furnace is working!! Thank goodness KK is the first up and he always turns the heat up for me so by the time I crawl out of bed it's warmed up!
Anyway we picked DS up and then DD and friend and off for Chinese we went! No cooking for me this year! We took a ride through Buffalo to the Peace Bridge and scooted over to Canada to our favorite Chinese restaurant. It was so good and we ate so much!! Have to confess on the ride home I had to unsnap my jeans!!
DS came back here with us and he got my exercise bike out of the car, finally!! I think I wrote about it awhile back?? Someone down the street had it out in their driveway and I asked them if they were selling/tossing it? They were tossing it out so I asked if they minded if I took it~~he was more than happy to put it in the car for me. Good thing because I never would have gotten it in by myself ~~it's heavy!
It's all dusty but I'll clean it up tomorrow and see how it works. I had DS put it here in the family room so maybe I can watch TV and ride. We'll see~~
The best news is yesterday when I got home from my friends house I had a package!!! I totally forgot my SP said I should watch for something!!
I'm going to add a photo but I must say she sent me the best color of yarn!! It's so me!!! Browns/oranges/rusts it's sooo kewl!!!! It's one of the Knit Picks sock garden yarns~~hmm,wonder if this will pool? This is different from the yarn she sent last month. I might just have to cast on even before I finish the Opals!!
This is so funny~~DD was just praising the virtues of Tea to me and what does SP send?? Tea!!! I'm going to try this kind as soon as I take my bath! The Ginger tea came in the prettiest bag from Napal~~you'll see in the photo. When I opened the box I'm thinking "what is that smell?" there was a baggie with something wrapped up and I thought it was more tea~~lol~~~I opened it and it's hand-made Jasmine soap that smells fantastic! SP shopped at 10,000 villages!! I had never heard of these until a short time ago DD and I went to one that has just opened not too far from where she lives. These gifties reminded of it--I must go back!! Thank you SP~~I love it all!!

I Frogged!

Since most of you readers are knitters you know how depressing those words can be!
I had the Opal sock almost done to the toe~~I kept slipping it on and I just wasn't happy with the ankle area. It was baggy in the back and I think I did the heel flap a bit too long. I'm so paranoid that I'll do it too short that I tend to over compensate. Crud! I really didn't want to give in and do the dreaded "frogging" but I knew I would never be satisfied with the way these looked. I really like this yarn and I want the socks perfect or at least as close to it that I can get!
I'm hoping to get the right formula for my size so I can make a few pair from this yarn~~there are so many colors that are nice. I'd be happy with any of them!
If I take the time now it'll be worth it in the long run~~right???
Even though today was a wasted knitting day I did manage to get a lot done in the house. I have a good start on the spring cleaning~~I'm actually surprising myself.
Got out the lace curtains for the living room and the kitchen. Washed them and hung all sets. One big job out of the way! The rooms are so much brighter ~~if only we'd have some sun to shine in! Wiped down all the walls~~yuk~~where do those webby things come from??? eewwww~~
Washed the globes from the light over the table and cleaned all the fan blades~~another nasty job done! I'm on a roll!!
I never believed in putting decorative items away when the kids where babies~~they had to learn what they could play with and what they couldn't but here I am moving things out of the kitchen because of the puppy! I figure why put temptation in front of her?? It'll make life easier if I'm not constantly worrying about her chewing something up.
So my longaberger floor baskets were the first items I moved! I still have to find a place for the wicker plant stand. Guess there isn't much I can do about the table and chairs tho~~huh?? I remember when the kids were young we were all sitting at the table and I was thinking how good the puppy was being. Later I saw why--she was laying under one of the chairs chewing the rung! None of us heard her~~used lots of Old English scratch cover on that one! Don't want to have that happen on my new table or chairs!

I'm so excited!!

I'm going around singing that in my head!! Can't get those words outta there!!
I'm finally after much research am getting my puppy!!! The Boston Terrier won me over! The deposit is paid and now the waiting until she's old enough! The name game begins~~I'm tossing names around like mad but nothing quite catches my fancy yet. I'd like a "girlie" old fashioned name~~So far Emma, Elly, and Daisy have been suggested. Ideas out there??
I'm already starting to puppy proof the kitchen! Good timing tho because what better time to start spring cleaning??? Well, to be honest there's no really "good" time to clean but you know what I mean. Course after yesterday's snow I'm beginning to have my doubts about spring ever getting here. It snowed a lot~~KK had to shovel and the cars were covered. Hate it!
My mood has improved a bit~~I'm thinking "puppy love" has helped!!
I'm working on my Opal socks today. Into the foot area now~~I don't understand why I have so many stitches to pick up along the heel flap tho. I always have quite a few more than the patterns call for. Doesn't matter which pattern I use it still happens.
On this sock I'm decreasing every row to get down to the original stitches. It looks fine so far and I slipped my foot in there and it fits well so I guess I won't worry about it.
I have a spiral bound brand new copy Of "The Sweater Workshop" available for trade if any one is interested. I now have two copies~~the one I waited forever for from Amazon and DD surprised me with one. It's a nice book~~if you want to get into something other than socks. I'd like to trade for yarn~~the book is 29.95 I paid $25 so I'd like to do something even. Give me a shout if interested??

blah Monday

What's with this now??? I wrote a whole long post and where did it go??? Off into cyberland somewhere! Great~~that just adds to my foul mood. Yesterday was nasty~~KK had to work. They've decided his team has to work every other Sunday. Sunday is a day for the "I'm just looking" crowd. People like being able to browse without salesman following them around. Don't they get that?? Apparently not!
Had the TV on all day, what else is new?? I'm watching waaaayyy too much TV. Worked on my Knit Picks sock from the yarn that my SP4 gifted me with. I really love that color! I had a lot of trouble with that sock heel for some reason. Had to frog it twice~had a long loop in the inside and dropped a couple stitches in another spot. No matter what I tried I could not get those stitches to look right. Naturally they were down quite a few rows so I had to go back a ways. I should have just put it down but I wanted it finished. Finally got it right so kept going until they were done! I could not bring myself to start the second one right away~~but I wanted to work on something so I started an Opal sock. I had a ball of cream/orange/blue in my "stash" that I totally forgot I had. I don't usually start another pair until the first is completed but hey, you only live once!!
Today is nasty,too. Damp/cold/snowy a bit brighter than yesterday but that's not really saying much! I'm not even dressed and it afternoon already~~who cares!
The sock is coming along nicely-no problems so far but I'm not to the heel yet! I like the way the colors are turning out. On the Opal list they sent out a notice about new colors that are going to be released this year~~some of them look pretty awesome! I know that I'm going to want some of them!

Plain and Simple Progress

Oh, no! Not the nails!!

It's freezing out there!

The sun is so deceiving today! It looks so nice out with the sun and no clouds but it's soooo cold! I took the dogs out in the back yard--thought while I was out there I'd start cleaning up a bit. That's always a nasty job after the winter. Stayed out until my hands were frozen and poor Ivy was shivering! Enough of that and in we came!
Sunday we went to the greyhound fair. That's always nice to go to and Ivy loves it except for getting her nails cut! There were so many hounds again this year and it seemed there are more and more white and white/brindle mixes. They are so pretty.
Haven't done much with knitting the last few days. KK (that's the SO from now on) and I went to the casino for the buffet Tuesday night and I hit my hand on the wall right next to my chair the pain was almost unbearable for a few minutes. Now it's still a dull ache--except if I try to do something my left wrist really acts up. At least it wasn't the right---guess there's a good side to everything!
I am going to work on my socks from the Knit Picks yarn tho~~they're probably better than trying to work on that bulky sweater--not so much weight hanging there.
I have a couple photos to put on~~hopefully a bit later I'll get to it.

I'm so annoyed

with that darn sweater!! I had to buy another set of needles so I could continue working on the sleeve. While knitting on them I was thinking about the front bands I wanted to do. It was bothering me so I stopped the sleeve and tried the front band.
I think it should be a tighter stitch so I'm going to use #5 needles. After picking up the stitches there's a ridge on the inside I don't like. Then I was wondering what stitch I should be doing. Garter,stockinette,ribbing??? Can't decide.
After giving it more thought I'm thinking that I'd like the bottom done in seed stitch instead of the k1 p1 ribbing that's already finished! Maybe seed st. on the fronts and the bottom and the sleeves?? Don't know--too much thinking is giving me a headache! I've put it down and I'm going to work on socks for a little while!!
Gave both dogs a bath today~~poor Ivy gets so frightened in the tub. I have to literally pick up her front end and lift her out and then her back end~~she won't move! She stands there half in and half out of the tub! She doesn't like the dryer either but it takes too long for her to dry naturally.
I got a RAOK in the mail today!! I was so happy to get a set of stitch markers from Julie at http://stoneview.typepad.com/. My very first set of real stitch markers!
They are so cute~~I'll get a photo hopefully tomorrow.
I'm tired~~really tired~~again. Not sleepy tired~physically tired~~I need some warm weather!!

Knitting Fool!!

I'm definitely obsessed with this sweater!! It's all I think about the last few days! It's crazy!! Maybe because I didn't have much confidence in my ability do actually figure it out. I'm so glad that someone started the KAL~~I don't think I would have ever tried these patterns otherwise. It's funny because awhile back when I went to the lys "big sale" there were a few woman going through the pattern folders and they were talking about all the Pure and Simple patterns. I didn't pay much attention because no way was I ever going to get into sweaters!!! They are too difficult, too time consuming, and waaaayyy too expensive for my budget!! So what am I even dreaming about??? Of course a sweater!!
The only reason I'm even on here and not working on it is I have to go again to the lys and get yet another set of needles!! I'm working the sleeve and with all the decreases the circulars are too hard to maneuver so I need #9 dpn's. With all the dpn's I have I would have sworn I have what I needed but ~~no! What a pain~
Let's see anything else going on here??? Nope, still very cold,still trying to snow.

Sunday is the greyhound fair~~that should be fun. Ivy loves going to that and seeing all the other hounds. Maybe this year I'll remember to bring my camera! I'm going to pick out a new "fancy" collar for her there. I really should get two--a regular everyday one and then her "fancy" one. The hounds need a special collar so it doesn't damage their necks when on a leash. She'll get her nails cut while there too--she hates that so I'd rather have someone else do it! I just might give her a bath tomorrow if I can get her into the tub myself.
Nothing else to post about ~~other than my crying episode in the grocery store!! How embarrassing is that??? What the hell??? I really did not feel good yesterday morning and it was dh's regular day off. We always do things on Wed. I was tired when I got up--bone aching exhausted--but I got myself together to go out. Stopped at the bank and then the grocery store ~~by the time we walked down the first isle I was in tears!! I just wanted to sit right down in the middle of the isle and start bawling!! How stupid is that??? I know it's the Fibro thing acting up but none the less it's annoying. I felt so bad because poor dh was so worried~~
We did wind up having a enjoyable afternoon in spite of my mood! So all's well that ends well!!

Pure and Simple Kal

Afternoon post??

This is weird~~me here this time of day! I'm taking a break from housework. Dh had to work today so I felt guilty not getting some things done around the house. So far I've managed to clean the bird room and scrub the bathroom and do some laundry and started a nice pork loin for dinner!! I think that's enough for today! Right? Yes, of course it is. You do understand that in-between all this I've been knitting??
I'm obsessed with the sweater I'm trying! It is coming along pretty good if I do say so myself~~and I do!! I'm glad that I finally tried one! I'm using a pattern from Pure and Simple~it's a cardigan jacket~~hmmm, did I already tell you this??? Anyway on day three of knitting I'm past the underarms and now working the body. This has knitted up so fast. I started it late Friday and worked on it through the evening, yesterday I only worked on it after dinner and I've done a couple hours today. If this turns out nice I think I'd like to try it again with Noro. Haven't even finished the first one and I'm planning the second! lol~~it's been fun seeing it take shape!
I'm not sure if I have the size dpn's I need for the sleeves ~~I may have to put it on hold if I get that far before Tuesday when I can get to the store. If so I'll get back to the socks I started the other day.
Still can't make up my mind about my new button! Silly~~
Went to the gym yesterday with dd and friend and her mom ~~I really enjoyed it. I'm thinking that maybe I will join for the three month membership. I really have to do something or I believe I may not be walking much if these leg pains keep up. Course maybe when/if the warm weather gets here I may get a break from it. They not only have a dry sauna but a hot tub!!! Now this means I'd have to go out and buy a bathing suit~~~ewwww~~~

So cool~~Alison of http://couldbefun.blogspot.com made me a button!! Well, actually she stayed up half the night last night making up a few for me to pick from! Now the only problem with that is I can't make a decision!! They're all so nice!
It will be a surprise next time you stop by!!
Now I have to come up with something to send to Alison to thank her!
Today was a beautiful day cold but so sunny!! Amazing what a little sun does for your attitude!
Went to the lys with patterns in hand to pick out some yarn for the sweater kal and the entrelac bag. Decided for the sweater to go with something not to expensive to try the first one. I got a Paton's variegated beige/brown/grey--very soft looking.
For the bag I'm going to go with Cascade 220 and some Galway I already have. At least I can start it ~~they ordered some of the other colors for me. That should be an interesting knit!
Off to watch a movie with Dh!!

Untitled!!!

Now, how is that for a catchy title??? I really do get tired of trying to think up something catchy!! Specially this time of night! Why am I still up on here??? Probably because I sat around all day knitting and drinking coffee!! I did make myself get up a couple times ~~actually just to refill my coffee mug~~I mean how can I be tired from exerting absolutely no energy all day? I may have walked up and down the stairs a couple times~someone had to let the dogs out! Oh, I forgot I did shovel a path so the dogs could get to the yard! The snow at the back door was almost to my knees!! I had to push the door open just so I could get out there to shovel or poor Houston would have been buried up to his chin! Of course Ivy with those long legs just runs right through it!
I finished one pair of socks and cast on another pair from the yarn my SP4 sent. It's the Knit Picks sock yarn in Zinnia. I wanted some mindless knitting but after 6 inches into these I was thinking I should have done them in a pattern. The color is really nice and bright and not stripes for a change! I haven't used a color like this before and I'm enjoying it~~they're "happy socks" !! Decided to use #1's tho and it's a bit slower going even with the Magic Loop method.
The Rekal socks are looking pretty good but because of the ribbing pattern I have to keep track of what row I'm on~~I get distracted to easily and loose my place. As much as I like the color they are a bit boring to work on.
I'm going to try to make up a few pair of socks and tuck them away for next year. Some for me and some for gifts. Maybe I'll be ahead at holiday time.
Tomorrow if the weather holds out I'm going to run over to the lys and see if there is anything I like for the Pure and Simple kal. I still need to get some Galway or Cascade so I can get going on the entrelac bag. Today was not the day to start either one of those!
I did bid on some LL's yarn on ebay~~it's over tomorrow so we'll see what happens with that. I'd like to try some and see if I can get a pair of socks with that pooling effect--I know some people don't care for that look and here I am trying to achieve it!
I really should get upstairs and try to get to sleep or I'll be in bed all morning and be up all night again tomorrow night~~and the cycle goes on and on~~
What I really need is summer and some fresh air and exercise!!

Is it The Weather??

That makes me so darn achey?? The last couple nights have been really bad again and not much better during the day. I'm thinking it may be time to go see the doc. again.
I hate going there~~it's the same old thing~~you know this is what you have and there's going to be good days and bad days~~deal with it!Here's another prescription! I have to say I think I do a pretty good job of coping with all the aches and pains but some days you just want to say "the hell with this"!! I'm tired of feeling like this every day!
Alright, that's out of my system~~I'm through complaining ~~at least for today!!
On the bright side even with all the snow that dumped on us the last two days dh and I made it to the yarn shop. I thought we would since the garage that was fixing my car was only a few miles from there. I went in to get a sweater pattern from the Knitting Pure and Simple line--neck down. We are going to do a kal~~everyone picks their own style and yarn as long as it's from these patterns. I found a cardigan jacket that appealed to me and doesn't look to difficult. Been a long time since I did a sweater. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't any yarn that I liked for it. Maybe in the next few days I can get over to the other shop and see if there's anything there. Since the sweater is so very basic and plain I'd like something a bit unusual~maybe tweed or a thick and thin~~just not sure.
Of course I couldn't leave without any yarn so I had to get a skein of Opal for socks! She's the only shop I've been to that carries it.
Off to finish a sock and then a hot bath!

No knitting ~~

No knitting today so far! May get a little bit done on the Westport Waves~~kind if tired tho tonight. Got up early at least early for me and met DD and friend for breakfast and then went to the Science Museum. The bank she works at is sponsoring a exhibit. It was really different! Course I can't remember the artists name but it was a display of pulleys and gadgets used in most unusual ways! He used what the "normal" person would consider junk and made up these really unique displays.
You'll just have to take my word for it--it was kewl!!
After we dropped the girls off Dh and I took a slow ride home~~it was a beautiful day. You'd swear that it was spring already! Supposedly the storm is coming tonight!
I almost fell asleep in the car!
We had a cardinal at the feeder and the finches are slowly coming back~~I'm afraid they are back way too early!
I added the Pearling Puppies webring on here~~not sure if it's right yet. I think you have to be accepted before it works correctly so I think for now I'll leave it alone. Since I added that you know what's coming?? A pooch photo!!

My new binge!!

All of a sudden I'm really getting into tea!! Not sure why since I've always been such a coffee drinker. I think it's all these flavors that they've come out with. Very interesting! All the tea drinkers on my various groups rave about Adagio tea~~I've added a link to their page. Now this seems to be one of the best out there so guess where I'm headed?? I must try some for myself! So many flavors to choose from~~
On a knitting note I did cast on for Westport Waves sock from the
TownsendSocksKnitALong@yahoogroups.com I'm using the recycled yarn from the earlier photos. I had to add 10 stitches to the pattern and I'm using #1 needles instead of the #2's called for. This yarn is a bit thinner than sock yarn that I've used before. It's taken me hours to get a few inches done and the pattern is quite easy.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get a photo.

hmmm, that didn't work!! Tried to put my Knit Picks wish list on here but can't seem to get it right--it doesn't link to anything. What the hell?? I thought I had it figured out~~back to square one I guess. Seems there's always more to learn on here.
I finished the sock I started Sunday afternoon! That went so fast, granted it's just a basic sock done Magic Loop method but I'm sure that must be a personal best!!
I didn't get to work on it at all yesterday--so in actual knitting time I've probably got about 8 hours in it!! I'm shocked~~hopefully tomorrow I'll be in all day and get a good start on the second one--no SSS sneaking in here this time!
I was able to get to one of the lys and she had #1's in 32" long circulars so I grabbed them--Addi Turbo's no less! I also picked up 0's in 40" length!! Now I should be all set for the Opal and the Knit Pick's sock yarn. Can't wait to try the Knit Pick from Secret Pal~~
DD spent the night in the hospital~~they called me at 4 a.m. to tell me she was there. She woke from a sound sleep with terrible back and side pain that wouldn't stop. Then she was starting to get nauseous so off to the hospital they went thinking she was having a appendix attack. After some testing and a cat scan they found out she had kidney stones! They drugged her up and kept her there a few hours then let her go home. When she called me on the way home she was feeling quite good~~I don't think she would have known if she had any discomfort or not- after the drugs they gave her!! Once home she passed out for a few hours! Dh, Ds and I went over in the afternoon to make sure all was well. She was up and about, looking a bit tired but none the worse for wear. I think Dh and I were just as tired! Neither of us got much sleep after that first call. Who said once the kids move out life would get easier??? They lied~~

Well, I thought I was so smart figuring out this whole blogging thing~~until I found out none of my links go anywhere!! I thought since I got them on the page where I wanted them I was all set! Now I find out that was only half the battle--and I do mean battle!! Took me forever to get this far!!
My kids would fall over in shock if they knew I had my own page~~with pictures no less!! As much as I would like to brag I'm not telling them~~this is my space!!
I wouldn't be able to write about my yarn shop adventures ~~I'd hear "what do you mean you're broke?" "Didn't you just get more yarn?" Yarn is definitely on a need to know basis!!
Back to this link thing~~I've been fooling around with it for over an hour an I have given up!! I'm trying to get the SP4 button to show up on the ring site link~~I think at this point I will leave well enough alone! At one time I had three SP4 buttons in there!
This is the second thing I gave up on for today! From late afternoon through this evening I tried entrelac knitting. I want a felted bag~~tomorrow I'm starting new socks--enough said.
Took Ivy to the meet and greet today. Very weird how these greyhounds react to one another. It's as tho they've known each other forever! No aggression/growling~~they just hang out! It really does seem like they enjoy visiting!
Funny seeing all the reactions from the public when they see a few of the hounds together. Of course Ivy felt like everyone was there for her benefit! She had more than her share of biscuits! I knew I couldn't get out of there without buying her something~~I picked up a large bag of chew sticks she likes.
It was nasty out when we left the pet store but I did make a quick trip to the yarn shop. It's a small shop and they were busy and I was a bit nervous about leaving Ivy alone in the car so I hurried through. They are open tomorrow afternoon for a few hours and Dh is working so I may go back.
I really don't have the $$ to spend and I do have my new sock yarn from my SP4 so I may just control myself and stay home!!

Fun Day

Had a really nice day today!! Daughter and Son showed up together and we went to the new local coffee shop. It was quite nice! Had a huge cup of mocha latte ~~sat and talked for awhile then we stopped at the pet store and checked out the fish. I'm so glad I'm out of that mood!!
Had some lunch at the sub shop and then came back home.
Once back here dd gave Ivy her bath for me~~saved my back for sure! Poor Ivy was not happy but once dry she's so nice and shiny and smells great! Had to get her all spruced up to go to the meet and greet tomorrow at Petsmart!! She'll really enjoy seeing the other hounds and she may even walk out of there with a new collar!
My good friend called to let me know that a lys is having a "sale" tomorrow!! Now you know what that means!! I'm there~
I'll just pop in after the meet and greet~~I'm sure Ivy will understand why she has to wait in the car for a few minutes! I was planning on going there soon because they have a entralec bag I want to check out!! So tomorrow is the perfect day to do it!
DD and I were sitting at the table when we hear this knocking at the door. Who could it be????? The mailman!!!! With a package for moi!!!!!! What could it possibly be????
A prezzie from my secret pal!!!!! How kewl!!!! She sent me CHOCOLATE not just plain ole chocolate(which is good too) but chocolate covered pretzels!!! I love these!!! How did she know that????? Now she didn't just send me candy but also the coolest color of the Knit Picks sock yarn!! It's awesome ~~I've been wanting to order from them but haven't yet now I don't have to!!! It's definitely time to start that new pair of socks!!! I'm so excited!!!!And I love the color--it's an orangey,red/yellow--I'll post a picture.

Germs run rampant!!

Ok, I admit it the germs are winning!! This is ridiculous!! Dh is still sick and I still have "It" What a pain~~ Serves me right for commenting how well I was doing this winter! If I have to look at the bright side at least we don't have the "flu" like last year!! I'll take the cold and sinus infection any day instead of that!!
Got a huge dose of antibiotics today--have to take two before bed then one a day for 5 days. I'm praying they don't make me sick! I don't have a good track record with medication. Dh refused to pick up his prescription because it was too expensive--I'd say $100 is on the high side--don't ya think??? What the hell is he paying over $50 a week toward insurance for??
The last few days I've been really bummed with this cold thing. I don't feel like doing anything yet in my mind I want to do something! I did putter around in my room and cleaned it up some more. It's actually starting to look presentable!
I did do a little something for my SP4--finished it today and if I get out tomorrow I'll get it in the mail.
I had joined the REKAL group awhile back---but didn't do anything yet. I picked up three sweaters to unravel but after trying the first one I gave up! It was unraveling in little pieces--to me that wasn't worth the bother so I haven't tried again. I think tomorrow I'll give it another shot! The one sweater is a man's x-large all wool. I'd surely get a lot of yarn out of that one. Hopefully it won't be like the first and I'll get some decent sections from it. I was so annoyed with the first one I think I may have tossed it!!
Today was Valentine's Day~~dh bought me my ink cartridges for the printer!! Not romantic but much appreciated!! I needed both b/w and color so it wasn't cheap!
I told him it is definitely worth it with all the great patterns I've been able to print out free of charge.

So miserable!!

Why am I even on here?? I'm so cranky~~this cold has hit full force~~I don't dare lower my head or my keyboard will be flooded! This is really lousy~~not really sick enough to stay in bed but don't feel well enough to do anything!! I hate this!!
I did wind up going out today after all. Picked up ds and brought him over for dinner--which I made! Dh and ds are watching a really, really dumb video~~dh gets to take him home!
I got a card in the mail today from my SP4!!! That was a bright spot on the day for sure! Didn't realize how nice it is to get mail the old fashioned way!! The only mail we get are bills!!
I've got a goal in mind for tomorrow~~I'm going to organize my "studio"!! At least I'm going to try. How nice it would be to get on one of those decorating shows where they come in and organize and decorate your whole room! I know there's a way to set it up I just haven't thought of it yet. I should take some before and after pictures~~now there's a scary thought!
I am thinking I'd like to start something new~~the heck with finishing wip's!! Maybe that'll perk me up!
Alright enough rambling~~I can't even get my thoughts together~~

Germs everywhere!!

Well, I'm finally paying for my comment "I'm not getting sick this winter and everyone else is"~~what a dumb as% thing to say!! I'm paying now!! I've just about decided to duct tape a tissue under my nose~~it runs so fast I can't even catch it!!

It seems when I have a few busy days in a row is when I get sick. Last week was so busy right through until Monday~~helping son get settled, went out Friday night,paid for it all day Saturday!! Went out all afternoon on Sunday and then went to a Super Bowl party Sunday night and had to be out of the house Monday morning by 9:15!! In my mind I can handle this but I guess the reality is---I can't. I knew during the night Monday that something was up and Tuesday morning there was no doubt!!
I have to say it was worth it tho~~had so much fun Friday night--and then Sunday went to the sale at the yarn shop!!! I finally got to see the Suede yarn I've been wanting~~I love it!! I broke down and bought 6 balls for the "Suede" shawl and I picked up a coordinating color for the fringe!! I can't believe that I'm actually going to make a shawl for me!! Who would have thought??? Don't know that I'll ever use it but it sure will look nice draped over the futon in my "studio"!! Also got some funky green for socks!! Can't remember what brand it is but it's a weird yellow-ey green! Then I picked up something to make my SP4 a little giftie~~which I was hoping to get in the mail by today. Needless to say I didn't make it so it's going to be a late Valentine gift!
I was disappointed they didn't have the Trio I wanted for the bag. I swear I called and they said they had it~~I must have been dreaming!
Nothing much else has gone on through the week~~it's snowing again and damp.

Why can I never come up with a cute quirky title??? I read all these other blogs and they have cute, quirky titles why not me??? Gonna have to work on that!!
Dh is sick again or I should say still--he stayed home today so I was trying to be quiet so he could sleep. You'd think that would be a perfect excuse to sit and knit??? Not so, I was so edgy I couldn't! I gave up and went out for awhile~~quick stop at the library to drop off a book I finished. Took more pennies to the bank--hope never to have to roll another penny! Note to self~~do not start another penny jar!!
Went to the lys~~I could tell I was in a crappy mood~~I could not make a decision and almost walked out without anything! I hate when I'm like this. So many things I want to do are going through my mind that I can't decide on one! Course they don't have the yarn I really want~~the Trio or the Suede but since this is no tax week and yarn is included I couldn't leave without anything!! I did get some funky bright sock yarn. It's German yarn --Stellar/Stahl ~~funny I was just thinking I wish I could find some yarn with these bright colors and there it was!! Fate!!
Sunday my friend and I are going to take a ride to the yarn shop we really like~~it's about 1 1/2 hrs, from here but it's a great shop. The no tax is through Sunday so maybe I can pick something up there. Have to see how the $$ is.
I think I need to go through patterns and find something that appeals to me besides socks. Socks are an on-going project but I need something new!!

No knitting

No knitting happened today! I had all good intentions but you know how that goes!
It was so sunny I just had to go out for awhile. Went to the library and paid my over due fine and pick up a couple books. I thought I'd give audio books a try. I know a lot of spinners and knitters enjoy them~~seems odd to me but who knows maybe I'll like it. Stopped at the bank and got penny wrappers to roll all those dam pennies from the broken jar~~that's another story.
Decided to stop in the local Thrift Store and check out the sweaters. Interesting experience~~I did find three 100% wool sweaters tho.Was hoping I'd have time today to start taking them apart but no such luck. On my to do list for tomorrow. I'm thinking the wool may be good for another cat bed~~we'll see once they are apart.
I found a couple patterns that I'd like to try--

Now do I have the yarn for any of these??? Of course not! The hat wouldn't take much so I may be able to swing that rather quick~~the others may have to wait a bit. I really need that Trio bag tho~~~Oh let's be honest here~~I WANT THEM ALL~~there I feel better!!

I was really surprised how the colors changed after felting. It felted rather quickly and I used a crock to block it. Took two days sitting on the heat vent to dry completely. I don't understand what it is about it that cat's seem attracted to it right away--weird!! Everyone was asking me if I sprayed it with catnip!!
At least someone appreciated my work!!
Off to read~~speaking of which~~I just heard of a new book "Not Just Socks" I'm going to have to check this one out!!

Another Saturday

Another Saturday that flew by~~and I'm friggin exhausted!! A quick post and then I'm taking a hot bath and hitting the rack!!
Ds called first thing this morning~~I just got up~~and he was ready to start moving!! I told him "call me back in an hour or so!" . I was sooo tired~~moving was the last thing I felt like doing! After much coffee I decided I could face the day.
One of his friends brought him over so that saved me a trip which was good~~I just stood around and supervised!! I've discovered that that's what I do best!! Well after all the running back and forth we now have a small path through the garage again! I didn't realize how much stuff he had in there!! Once the weather warms up I can see that we will be able to clear more out~~finally!!
I felt bad tho at his apartment~~he needs so darn much and no $$ to get it. This is such a bad time of the year for us too that we can't really do anything right now.
When I came home I went through my food cabinets and made a big bag up for him. That made me feel so much better. Tomorrow we'll go to DD's and pick up her old microwave for him~~and a recliner.
I was making him an afghan last winter out of some camouflage yarn that he was buying~~but then he stopped so I didn't work on it anymore. I think I'll try to get some more of the yarn and surprise him with it. Hope I can remember how to do it! It's crochet and I don't do much of that! The yarn is from Walmart so it's probably not too costly.
I finished my pillow~~the knitting is really nice but I'm not to sure about the seaming it together. I think I'll look in a couple of my books and see if there's any good suggestions. I'll get a picture once it's together.

All I did today was knit!! Well, yes I did make Dh meat loaf for dinner~~his favorite~~not mine!
I totally forgot about the pillow I was doing for my "studio"!! I started it before Xmas and then put it aside to do gifts. I've got it almost done--just finishing up the back tonight and then I'll sew it together. I think it looks ok~~I would have liked more different textures on the front but for the first one it'll do.
Felted the cat bed and it looks pretty awesome!! I can't believe how the yarn changed tho~~I used the variegated blue wool and the dark Lamb's Pride and now it looks like a medium blue solid! Don't know what happened to the variegated?? I felted it last night and it's still really wet tonight. It's sitting on the heat vent in my bedroom drying. ewwww, the wet wool smell~~
Tomorrow I'll start my "thingalong". The book I ordered from Amazon.com finally came~~The Sweater Workshop by Jacqueline Fey. That should be interesting to do. Many different techniques in the one piece~~I'm hoping that I can somehow sew the "thing" together when I'm done and use it for a tote. We'll see!!
Nice and sunny again today but frigid~~stayed in all day! I hope it doesn't snow tomorrow so I can help Ds move some of his things to his apartment. I'll be glad when he's settled.

I'm excited!!

I was so depressed this morning when I got up! I'm sick of the cold,the snow and no $$ not in that order! I checked my email and I have a secret pal!!! What fun this will be!! Something to look forward to~~I do have to remember that I'm a pal to someone too~~maybe I can cheer someone else up if they need it?

I hate to admit it but I have become the dreaded "snob"~~never thought I would but after a few trips to the yarn shops how can you help it?? Can't always get what I like but I can dream!!

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I've tried spinning~haven't really given it much time. I do have a couple spindles and a old wheel that I was able to get last summer at a really good price. I bought it mostly for a decoration never thinking that I actually could use it!
I can crochet the basics ~~like knitting so much more!

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
Not really~~don't like smoke smell ~~

4. How long have you been knitting?
I was taught to knit when I was very young by my Mom-~~which is one of the memories that I cherish! When I knit I often think of her and wonder what she would think to see what I'm working on!

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
no, I don't~~didn't know there was such a thing

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Hmmm, I like many but I'm really liking Yankee Candle Sage and Citrus.
Lavender is a great bath scent!

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Goes without saying!!! Chocolate??? Hand it over!!

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I was into rubber stamping for awhile but it got to be so expensive to try to keep up with the latest so I've stayed away from it.
I like beading and am thinking of trying to do some beaded stitch markers.
I love counted x-stitch and still do that when the mood strikes. I love the primitive samplers not cutesy. Guess I'm a snob there, too?

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if

I like country ~~light rock~~yes, I can play CD's

family/season/palette you prefer?
I absolutely love fall colors!! One thing we do have here in western NY is beautiful fall seasons!! The rusts, golds,browns are stunning!

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
Now it's just Dh and I at home. DD and DS are on their own. Ds has been moved for a couple months ~~pets??? Of course, what's a house without pets??? I have a retired greyhound,Ivy and a aging Shih tzu,Houston. Two Blue&Gold Macaws, a Yellow-nape Amazon and a African grey!!

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
At our ages I just wish we were financially secure~~which we are not. I want to see my kids settled and happy in their lives.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I can't say I have a real favorite~~I really enjoy making socks. There are quite a few yarns I would like. I do like the handspun look thick/thin~~.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I really don't care for all the fun furs~~the type from the craft stores

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I'm so trying to figure out how I can get the yarn to make a Trio bag!! I saw it on here and I have to have it!!

I like to do socks ~~just plain ones but with nice yarn. I do enjoy felting.
And I love tote bags!! You can never have enough!!

I'm just finishing a felted cat bed for my DD's cats. I can't wait to felt it!!
I'm also making a pair of socks for me~~thanks to Fibro it seems my feet are never warm any more. I have some Lamb's Pride to do a felted bag--haven't started it yet.

for us)
I didn't like ponchos the first time they were popular!! Some now aren't too bad but I'm still not crazy about them!

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I use both ~~depends on the project. Use a lot of dpn's with socks. Did learn the Magic Loop method and it is faster. Now I'll have to invest in some long cable small diameter circulars.

20. How did you learn to knit?
Mom~~cause I drove her crazy when she was knitting!!

21. How old is your oldest UFO?
Right around Christmas I started a pair or socks for me that I'm just getting back to!

Sunny day

Absolutely beautiful day today!! The sun was shining and the sky was so blue!! It was so cold tho--the high was 7!!! They say by midnight it's going to be 0 and stay that way through Sunday. We have a huge snow storm on it's way ~~should be here by morning! Course half the time the news media gets everyone all worked up over this and then we get an inch!!Maybe we'll be lucky and that'll happen this time!
I just had to get out for a little while~~went to the library and looked for some knitting books. They really don't have any good ones--most of them are so dated. I did pick out two on machine knitting~might be interesting.
When I got back I still wasn't ready to stay in so I put Ivy's coat on her and we went for a walk! She loved that!! We managed to go for about 20 minutes~~that was enough for both of us~~my face was freezing!! Ivy kept walking right against my leg--not sure if she was getting tired or trying to stay warm! She looks so cute in her coat! People look at us really weird when they drive by~you really can't miss her!!
Worked on "the scarf" on and off all afternoon~~had a couple more inches done when I noticed quite a few rows back a big mistake!! I must have got side-tracked and started following the stitches instead of the seed stitch. So of course I frogged all the way back~~what a waste of time! While watching TV tonight I knitted and got as far as I originally was~~then I quit!
Made a pot of soup and biscuits for dinner~~really good!! I love soup simmering on days like this. The biscuits are very similar to the ones at Red Lobster. I never made them before and we both like them. I'll have to remember them.
Off to soak in a hot bath and then bed to read!

Too cold~~

Way too cold for me still!! The sun was out for awhile today so at least it looked nice. The sun shining on the snow is so pretty when the snow is fresh. Doesn't make me want to go out there but it's nice to look at!!
Did do some cleaning and laundry today~~didn't finish because that darn yarn was yellin so loud I had to work with it so it would "shut up"!! After four or five starts I've got that darn Wool-ease scarf going. I don't know what the problem was but I could not get it started. Hated the pattern,cast-on was too loose, dropped a stitch~~then it dawned on me~~it's the yarn!! It doesn't want to be this scarf~~too bad ~~get over it I need a scarf and your it!! Once that was settled things went a bit smoother. By that time tho my shoulder and back were screamin "break" !! So as of right now I've only got about 6-7 inches done in seed stitch. Hopefully tomorrow I will finish it!
My minds been spinning with all the projects I want to do all of a sudden! Why do I do that when I'm starting something I really don't feel like doing? That only makes it worse! Not quitting tho--I'll definitely finish it before starting anything else!!
I tried quite a few times this afternoon to get the RAOK group blogs listed on here and I can't do it! How annoying~~sometimes I really do hate this thing!

Enough!!!

Snow that is!! It hasn't stopped since early yesterday! This is payback for everyone saying we didn't get any snow this year to speak of! Turned the heat way up today and Dh and I stayed home all day~~I can't remember when we have stayed in a whole day! He worked on cleaning out his desk for the new year and I read and knitted the day away.
Wouldn't you know tho I ran out of the Lamb's Pride I'm using in the felted cat bed. How annoying is that? With this nasty weather I don't know when I'll go out and get some. I think tomorrow I will call around and see if anyone has the color I need before I go running around to all the shops looking for it. The closest lys doesn't have it~I already called them.
The bed is coming along good~~I'll get a picture on here after I'm done. I can see where these would make up really fast as long as you don't run out of yarn! I asked DD if she wanted the fun fur trim and she didn't think so but I think it would be kinda fun with it~~so you know what that means, right???? Fun fur it is!
Ok, not much more to write about when you stay in all day and knit and read~~oh yeah, the book I just finished Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz--I liked it--I never expected it to end the way it did. I must have really got into this one I felt so bad at the end!! Funny how you get so engrossed in a book~~I really can't understand someone who doesn't like to read~~must be like me and math!!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I'm finally finishing that other slipper sock for my friend!! I'm almost to the toes~~can't wait until that's done!! Then I just have the scarf and hat and my gifts are all caught up!!

Chilly out there!!

I can not believe how cold it got the last couple days!! Hard to believe that just last week we had record breaking temp's in the 60's!!! It's crazy!!
Left for DD's around 3:15 and it took me a half hour just to get out of the stinking driveway!! Dh shoveled in the a.m. before he left for work and by the time I left you'd never know that he shoveled! At least it wasn't that really wet heavy stuff--this was light and fluffy!! The pretty kind~well it's pretty from the inside looking out anyway! I swear my poor ears were frozen and they really hurt when I got in the darn van. Maybe that would be a hint to wear a hat??? hmmm, seems to me that I did knit one for myself!
Had a nice dinner with dd--she's so funny--hates raw chicken--always has and there she is dipping chicken in milk and then using some coating crumbs gagging the whole time!! Really worked up your appetite watching her!! She did good tho~~
I left by 7 because I was nervous about driving home on the expressway. Once it got dark everything was freezing up. Saw one car that had slid into the ditch~~
On a knitting note~I started a felted cat bed for dd's cats. I've got quite a bit done. Tomorrow I should be able to finish it~~I may pick up some fun fur for the edge-not sure.
I'm practicing knitting on the usm--I figured out the ribbing. Does take some time to work it and I'm not entirely sure it's worth the time it takes.
Was so lazy today--can't shake this "blah" mood. I don't feel like doing anything around here~~I need to do some major cleaning and I can't get into it. Knittings more fun!!

Busy week!!

I can't believe we are already half way through the month!! This week has flown by for me and I really didn't get much done! Everyday I had to go out for one reason or another so it was really nice to stay in today! The weather turned really cold so this was the perfect day to stay home.I never even got totally dressed!! Talk about staying comfy!
I worked on my magic loop sock~~I'm almost to the toes of the second sock!! Yeah!!! These are mine~~and they are turning out nice. They are going to be fraternal tho--for the longest time they were identical but after the heel decreases that changed! There's also one stripe of black that isn't anywhere else is either sock--weird!!
I'm also working on the "hound" throw--that is going to take forever!! 200 stitches per row--so slow going! If only I could get the knitting machine figured out then I could speed through the body part of the throw and then just add a crochet border to stop the curling. But the key word here is "if only" ~~I'm about ready to give up on it and return the darn thing. I hate to give in and admit defeat!
Still trying to get the "studio" cleaned up~~did make some progress~~now you can almost see the entire counter top~~maybe tomorrow!! Got DH to put a hook into the ceiling for my three tiered basket. Small yarn balls will look cute in there.
I want to start my "thing along"~~ordered The Sweater Workshop from Amazon.com and it should be here on the 18th~~One of the girls emailed me the cast-on amount and what the first section is so I can get started. I never knew that garter st.in the round is done by k1 row p1 row and that stockinette is k all stitches~~I never thought about it before!! See, I learned something all ready and haven't even started yet!!

Lousy day

I'm so bummed today~~yesterday I thought I may be getting Vertigo again but kept telling myself it was my imagination but guess what????? I was wrong!!! I am so friggin dizzy it's not even funny~~dam~~feels like when you've been drinking and it's time to stop! This is really nasty today~~if I could just keep my head straight~~really straight and not turn it at all it wouldn't be so bad. They need to make a vice type thing to hold your head straight~~can you imagine that?? lol~~
What really infuriated me was I needed to put $$ in my checking account so I called dh at work to see if he could run over and do it for me so I wouldn't have to go out~~of course not!! He had a customer coming in~~which I'll bet they didn't because we have an ice storm to top it off. I was so annoyed I hung up and burst into tears!! How pathetic is that?? So that meant I had to get dressed which I had no plans on doing today ~~let my van thaw out--it was literally a sheet of ice~~and drive over there.
Since I was out and Walmart is right next door I ran in(not literally) thank god I didn't see anyone I knew~~I never even combed my hair--that's pretty scary in itself! I grabbed a set of size 8 circulars so I can start the blankets for the greyhounds. I tried last night on 10's but they were just too big. The stitches were too loose and I was worried they'd get their nails caught.
Now I'm going to make something to eat~~just a sandwich and maybe some soup and curl up on my bed with the needles and some of the donated yarn and get started. Hope I can keep my eyes open long enough to accomplish something!!
I called the new lys and it just happens she has one skein left of the Lamb's Pride I need for the felted slipper~~what luck!! She's holding it for me until Sat. --I should be fine to drive that far by then!

First Sock of the New Year!

It's early

and I'm here already!! Weird!! I'm in a horrid mood today~~I'm annoying myself! Now you know you're bad when you can't stand yourself!!
I need to start a new project to perk me up~~and nothing that has anything to do with cleaning! I've still got xmas stuff to put away--which means getting the boxes out of the attic~~and I hate doing that! Just pulling those steps down is a pain!
I did finish my first pair of socks for the New Year last night and they are for ME!!! kewl~~I'm working away on that last felted slipper I need by Thursday---I think I'll make it!!
I'm going to get going on the greyhound project!! That will be nice because it will be mindless knitting at night in front of the TV. I think I'll do some of the throws in plain old garter stitch--no pattern to worry about. The "seniors" won't care!!
Barnes&Noble just called me and the Knitting calendar I ordered is in~~yeah!! Maybe tomorrow dh and I will run up there and pick it up.
I took a picture of the chaos in my "studio" ~~I think I'll post it and embarrass myself into cleaning it up! That's for another day~~

Better late than never~~"Happy New Year"!! Ours started out rather quietly which is a good thing! Played cards and ate all evening~~drank too but straight Pepsi!!
How exciting is that?? No one feels well~~coughing,hacking sneezing~~ewwww~~~stay away from me!! No one can believe it~~I'm not sick ~~that's weird!!
My gift certificate to Barnes&Noble was crying out to be used --so I did!! DH and I went and had coffee and sat by the fireplace~~put my feet up and almost fell asleep!!
I finally got the felting book that I've been wanting and wouldn't buy for myself! I like a lot of the projects in it so maybe that will be incentive to actually do them!
I also picked up a new Dean Koontz book I've been eyeing up. I'm trying to save it for a snowy,nasty day but it looks really good and I'm having trouble waiting!!
This house is totally out of control~~what a friggin mess!! I have got to get that tree down today no matter what!! I took all the other xmas stuff and put it in the "den"~at least it doesn't look so bad all in one spot. I hate the thought of having to go up in that attic to get the boxes--what a pain!
It's raining again--this is strange--we should have feet of snow by now! The temperature was 55 yesterday and it's 49 right now!! Wish all winter was like this minus the rain tho~~this dampness is my downfall.
I'm not motivated today~~It's already after 3 and nothing is done~~what the heck??
I'll be running around here like mad before dh gets home trying to finish up. I waste so much time some days.
I should be practicing on the USM so I can get going on the blankets for the hounds.
The "studio" is still so messy I don't even want to go in there either!!
After reading many posts on the USM I'm thinking it's a lot more complicated that I originally thought. It also does more than I thought~~if you can master the darn thing!! One woman had photos of socks she did and they are really nice~~made the first one in two hours!! I can't imagine having a sock done that quickly!! I am going to keep trying it. Hey, I've got all winter!!
