Knitting Fool!!

I'm definitely obsessed with this sweater!! It's all I think about the last few days! It's crazy!! Maybe because I didn't have much confidence in my ability do actually figure it out. I'm so glad that someone started the KAL~~I don't think I would have ever tried these patterns otherwise. It's funny because awhile back when I went to the lys "big sale" there were a few woman going through the pattern folders and they were talking about all the Pure and Simple patterns. I didn't pay much attention because no way was I ever going to get into sweaters!!! They are too difficult, too time consuming, and waaaayyy too expensive for my budget!! So what am I even dreaming about??? Of course a sweater!!
The only reason I'm even on here and not working on it is I have to go again to the lys and get yet another set of needles!! I'm working the sleeve and with all the decreases the circulars are too hard to maneuver so I need #9 dpn's. With all the dpn's I have I would have sworn I have what I needed but ~~no! What a pain~
Let's see anything else going on here??? Nope, still very cold, still trying to snow.
It's nasty~~
Sunday is the greyhound fair~~that should be fun. Ivy loves going to that and seeing all the other hounds. Maybe this year I'll remember to bring my camera! I'm going to pick out a new "fancy" collar for her there. I really should get two--a regular everyday one and then her "fancy" one. The hounds need a special collar so it doesn't damage their necks when on a leash. She'll get her nails cut while there too--she hates that so I'd rather have someone else do it! I just might give her a bath tomorrow if I can get her into the tub myself.
Nothing else to post about ~~other than my crying episode in the grocery store!! How embarrassing is that??? What the hell??? I really did not feel good yesterday morning and it was dh's regular day off. We always do things on Wed. I was tired when I got up--bone aching exhausted--but I got myself together to go out. Stopped at the bank and then the grocery store ~~by the time we walked down the first isle I was in tears!! I just wanted to sit right down in the middle of the isle and start bawling!! How stupid is that??? I know it's the Fibro thing acting up but none the less it's annoying. I felt so bad because poor dh was so worried~~
We did wind up having a enjoyable afternoon in spite of my mood! So all's well that ends well!!
Off for a snack!

It's a start!

Pure and Simple Kal

Pals!!

Afternoon post??

This is weird~~me here this time of day! I'm taking a break from housework. Dh had to work today so I felt guilty not getting some things done around the house. So far I've managed to clean the bird room and scrub the bathroom and do some laundry and started a nice pork loin for dinner!! I think that's enough for today! Right? Yes, of course it is. You do understand that in-between all this I've been knitting??
I'm obsessed with the sweater I'm trying! It is coming along pretty good if I do say so myself~~and I do!! I'm glad that I finally tried one! I'm using a pattern from Pure and Simple~it's a cardigan jacket~~hmmm, did I already tell you this??? Anyway on day three of knitting I'm past the underarms and now working the body. This has knitted up so fast. I started it late Friday and worked on it through the evening, yesterday I only worked on it after dinner and I've done a couple hours today. If this turns out nice I think I'd like to try it again with Noro. Haven't even finished the first one and I'm planning the second! lol~~it's been fun seeing it take shape!
I'm not sure if I have the size dpn's I need for the sleeves ~~I may have to put it on hold if I get that far before Tuesday when I can get to the store. If so I'll get back to the socks I started the other day.
Still can't make up my mind about my new button! Silly~~
Went to the gym yesterday with dd and friend and her mom ~~I really enjoyed it. I'm thinking that maybe I will join for the three month membership. I really have to do something or I believe I may not be walking much if these leg pains keep up. Course maybe when/if the warm weather gets here I may get a break from it. They not only have a dry sauna but a hot tub!!! Now this means I'd have to go out and buy a bathing suit~~~ewwww~~~
Off to take some pictures of sweater project!

I Have My Own Button!!

So cool~~Alison of http://couldbefun.blogspot.com made me a button!! Well, actually she stayed up half the night last night making up a few for me to pick from! Now the only problem with that is I can't make a decision!! They're all so nice!
It will be a surprise next time you stop by!!
Now I have to come up with something to send to Alison to thank her!
Today was a beautiful day cold but so sunny!! Amazing what a little sun does for your attitude!
Went to the lys with patterns in hand to pick out some yarn for the sweater kal and the entrelac bag. Decided for the sweater to go with something not to expensive to try the first one. I got a Paton's variegated beige/brown/grey--very soft looking.
For the bag I'm going to go with Cascade 220 and some Galway I already have. At least I can start it ~~they ordered some of the other colors for me. That should be an interesting knit!
Off to watch a movie with Dh!!

Untitled!!!

Now, how is that for a catchy title??? I really do get tired of trying to think up something catchy!! Specially this time of night! Why am I still up on here??? Probably because I sat around all day knitting and drinking coffee!! I did make myself get up a couple times ~~actually just to refill my coffee mug~~I mean how can I be tired from exerting absolutely no energy all day? I may have walked up and down the stairs a couple times~someone had to let the dogs out! Oh, I forgot I did shovel a path so the dogs could get to the yard! The snow at the back door was almost to my knees!! I had to push the door open just so I could get out there to shovel or poor Houston would have been buried up to his chin! Of course Ivy with those long legs just runs right through it!
I finished one pair of socks and cast on another pair from the yarn my SP4 sent. It's the Knit Picks sock yarn in Zinnia. I wanted some mindless knitting but after 6 inches into these I was thinking I should have done them in a pattern. The color is really nice and bright and not stripes for a change! I haven't used a color like this before and I'm enjoying it~~they're "happy socks" !! Decided to use #1's tho and it's a bit slower going even with the Magic Loop method.
The Rekal socks are looking pretty good but because of the ribbing pattern I have to keep track of what row I'm on~~I get distracted to easily and loose my place. As much as I like the color they are a bit boring to work on.
I'm going to try to make up a few pair of socks and tuck them away for next year. Some for me and some for gifts. Maybe I'll be ahead at holiday time.
Tomorrow if the weather holds out I'm going to run over to the lys and see if there is anything I like for the Pure and Simple kal. I still need to get some Galway or Cascade so I can get going on the entrelac bag. Today was not the day to start either one of those!
I did bid on some LL's yarn on ebay~~it's over tomorrow so we'll see what happens with that. I'd like to try some and see if I can get a pair of socks with that pooling effect--I know some people don't care for that look and here I am trying to achieve it!
I really should get upstairs and try to get to sleep or I'll be in bed all morning and be up all night again tomorrow night~~and the cycle goes on and on~~
What I really need is summer and some fresh air and exercise!!
Off to bed!!

Is it The Weather??

That makes me so darn achey?? The last couple nights have been really bad again and not much better during the day. I'm thinking it may be time to go see the doc. again.
I hate going there~~it's the same old thing~~you know this is what you have and there's going to be good days and bad days~~deal with it!Here's another prescription! I have to say I think I do a pretty good job of coping with all the aches and pains but some days you just want to say "the hell with this"!! I'm tired of feeling like this every day!
Alright, that's out of my system~~I'm through complaining ~~at least for today!!
On the bright side even with all the snow that dumped on us the last two days dh and I made it to the yarn shop. I thought we would since the garage that was fixing my car was only a few miles from there. I went in to get a sweater pattern from the Knitting Pure and Simple line--neck down. We are going to do a kal~~everyone picks their own style and yarn as long as it's from these patterns. I found a cardigan jacket that appealed to me and doesn't look to difficult. Been a long time since I did a sweater. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't any yarn that I liked for it. Maybe in the next few days I can get over to the other shop and see if there's anything there. Since the sweater is so very basic and plain I'd like something a bit unusual~maybe tweed or a thick and thin~~just not sure.
Of course I couldn't leave without any yarn so I had to get a skein of Opal for socks! She's the only shop I've been to that carries it.
Off to finish a sock and then a hot bath!

Nap time!

You talking to ME?????

No knitting ~~

No knitting today so far! May get a little bit done on the Westport Waves~~kind if tired tho tonight. Got up early at least early for me and met DD and friend for breakfast and then went to the Science Museum. The bank she works at is sponsoring a exhibit. It was really different! Course I can't remember the artists name but it was a display of pulleys and gadgets used in most unusual ways! He used what the "normal" person would consider junk and made up these really unique displays.
You'll just have to take my word for it--it was kewl!!
After we dropped the girls off Dh and I took a slow ride home~~it was a beautiful day. You'd swear that it was spring already! Supposedly the storm is coming tonight!
I almost fell asleep in the car!
We had a cardinal at the feeder and the finches are slowly coming back~~I'm afraid they are back way too early!
I added the Pearling Puppies webring on here~~not sure if it's right yet. I think you have to be accepted before it works correctly so I think for now I'll leave it alone. Since I added that you know what's coming?? A pooch photo!!
Off to add photo!!

My new binge!!

All of a sudden I'm really getting into tea!! Not sure why since I've always been such a coffee drinker. I think it's all these flavors that they've come out with. Very interesting! All the tea drinkers on my various groups rave about Adagio tea~~I've added a link to their page. Now this seems to be one of the best out there so guess where I'm headed?? I must try some for myself! So many flavors to choose from~~
On a knitting note I did cast on for Westport Waves sock from the
TownsendSocksKnitALong@yahoogroups.com I'm using the recycled yarn from the earlier photos. I had to add 10 stitches to the pattern and I'm using #1 needles instead of the #2's called for. This yarn is a bit thinner than sock yarn that I've used before. It's taken me hours to get a few inches done and the pattern is quite easy.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get a photo.
Not much else going on~~
Off to bed~~

A new beginning!!

Great find!! 100% wool man's sweater. First REKAL project!

Wish List??

hmmm, that didn't work!! Tried to put my Knit Picks wish list on here but can't seem to get it right--it doesn't link to anything. What the hell?? I thought I had it figured out~~back to square one I guess. Seems there's always more to learn on here.
I finished the sock I started Sunday afternoon! That went so fast, granted it's just a basic sock done Magic Loop method but I'm sure that must be a personal best!!
I didn't get to work on it at all yesterday--so in actual knitting time I've probably got about 8 hours in it!! I'm shocked~~hopefully tomorrow I'll be in all day and get a good start on the second one--no SSS sneaking in here this time!
I was able to get to one of the lys and she had #1's in 32" long circulars so I grabbed them--Addi Turbo's no less! I also picked up 0's in 40" length!! Now I should be all set for the Opal and the Knit Pick's sock yarn. Can't wait to try the Knit Pick from Secret Pal~~
DD spent the night in the hospital~~they called me at 4 a.m. to tell me she was there. She woke from a sound sleep with terrible back and side pain that wouldn't stop. Then she was starting to get nauseous so off to the hospital they went thinking she was having a appendix attack. After some testing and a cat scan they found out she had kidney stones! They drugged her up and kept her there a few hours then let her go home. When she called me on the way home she was feeling quite good~~I don't think she would have known if she had any discomfort or not- after the drugs they gave her!! Once home she passed out for a few hours! Dh, Ds and I went over in the afternoon to make sure all was well. She was up and about, looking a bit tired but none the worse for wear. I think Dh and I were just as tired! Neither of us got much sleep after that first call. Who said once the kids move out life would get easier??? They lied~~
Off to bed ~~

Links Links???

Well, I thought I was so smart figuring out this whole blogging thing~~until I found out none of my links go anywhere!! I thought since I got them on the page where I wanted them I was all set! Now I find out that was only half the battle--and I do mean battle!! Took me forever to get this far!!
My kids would fall over in shock if they knew I had my own page~~with pictures no less!! As much as I would like to brag I'm not telling them~~this is my space!!
I wouldn't be able to write about my yarn shop adventures ~~I'd hear "what do you mean you're broke?" "Didn't you just get more yarn?" Yarn is definitely on a need to know basis!!
Back to this link thing~~I've been fooling around with it for over an hour an I have given up!! I'm trying to get the SP4 button to show up on the ring site link~~I think at this point I will leave well enough alone! At one time I had three SP4 buttons in there!
This is the second thing I gave up on for today! From late afternoon through this evening I tried entrelac knitting. I want a felted bag~~tomorrow I'm starting new socks--enough said.
Took Ivy to the meet and greet today. Very weird how these greyhounds react to one another. It's as tho they've known each other forever! No aggression/growling~~they just hang out! It really does seem like they enjoy visiting!
Funny seeing all the reactions from the public when they see a few of the hounds together. Of course Ivy felt like everyone was there for her benefit! She had more than her share of biscuits! I knew I couldn't get out of there without buying her something~~I picked up a large bag of chew sticks she likes.
It was nasty out when we left the pet store but I did make a quick trip to the yarn shop. It's a small shop and they were busy and I was a bit nervous about leaving Ivy alone in the car so I hurried through. They are open tomorrow afternoon for a few hours and Dh is working so I may go back.
I really don't have the $$ to spend and I do have my new sock yarn from my SP4 so I may just control myself and stay home!!
Off to read~~

Not to be ignored!

Bathing is so tiresome!

Fun Day

Had a really nice day today!! Daughter and Son showed up together and we went to the new local coffee shop. It was quite nice! Had a huge cup of mocha latte ~~sat and talked for awhile then we stopped at the pet store and checked out the fish. I'm so glad I'm out of that mood!!
Had some lunch at the sub shop and then came back home.
Once back here dd gave Ivy her bath for me~~saved my back for sure! Poor Ivy was not happy but once dry she's so nice and shiny and smells great! Had to get her all spruced up to go to the meet and greet tomorrow at Petsmart!! She'll really enjoy seeing the other hounds and she may even walk out of there with a new collar!
My good friend called to let me know that a lys is having a "sale" tomorrow!! Now you know what that means!! I'm there~
I'll just pop in after the meet and greet~~I'm sure Ivy will understand why she has to wait in the car for a few minutes! I was planning on going there soon because they have a entralec bag I want to check out!! So tomorrow is the perfect day to do it!
DD and I were sitting at the table when we hear this knocking at the door. Who could it be????? The mailman!!!! With a package for moi!!!!!! What could it possibly be????
A prezzie from my secret pal!!!!! How kewl!!!! She sent me CHOCOLATE not just plain ole chocolate(which is good too) but chocolate covered pretzels!!! I love these!!! How did she know that????? Now she didn't just send me candy but also the coolest color of the Knit Picks sock yarn!! It's awesome ~~I've been wanting to order from them but haven't yet now I don't have to!!! It's definitely time to start that new pair of socks!!! I'm so excited!!!!And I love the color--it's an orangey,red/yellow--I'll post a picture.
Thank you Secret Pal!!!!
Off to cast on!!!

Present from Secret Pal!!

Germs run rampant!!

Ok, I admit it the germs are winning!! This is ridiculous!! Dh is still sick and I still have "It" What a pain~~ Serves me right for commenting how well I was doing this winter! If I have to look at the bright side at least we don't have the "flu" like last year!! I'll take the cold and sinus infection any day instead of that!!
Got a huge dose of antibiotics today--have to take two before bed then one a day for 5 days. I'm praying they don't make me sick! I don't have a good track record with medication. Dh refused to pick up his prescription because it was too expensive--I'd say $100 is on the high side--don't ya think??? What the hell is he paying over $50 a week toward insurance for??
The last few days I've been really bummed with this cold thing. I don't feel like doing anything yet in my mind I want to do something! I did putter around in my room and cleaned it up some more. It's actually starting to look presentable!
I did do a little something for my SP4--finished it today and if I get out tomorrow I'll get it in the mail.
I had joined the REKAL group awhile back---but didn't do anything yet. I picked up three sweaters to unravel but after trying the first one I gave up! It was unraveling in little pieces--to me that wasn't worth the bother so I haven't tried again. I think tomorrow I'll give it another shot! The one sweater is a man's x-large all wool. I'd surely get a lot of yarn out of that one. Hopefully it won't be like the first and I'll get some decent sections from it. I was so annoyed with the first one I think I may have tossed it!!
Today was Valentine's Day~~dh bought me my ink cartridges for the printer!! Not romantic but much appreciated!! I needed both b/w and color so it wasn't cheap!
I told him it is definitely worth it with all the great patterns I've been able to print out free of charge.
Off to have tea, pills and read!

So miserable!!

Why am I even on here?? I'm so cranky~~this cold has hit full force~~I don't dare lower my head or my keyboard will be flooded! This is really lousy~~not really sick enough to stay in bed but don't feel well enough to do anything!! I hate this!!
I did wind up going out today after all. Picked up ds and brought him over for dinner--which I made! Dh and ds are watching a really, really dumb video~~dh gets to take him home!
I got a card in the mail today from my SP4!!! That was a bright spot on the day for sure! Didn't realize how nice it is to get mail the old fashioned way!! The only mail we get are bills!!
I've got a goal in mind for tomorrow~~I'm going to organize my "studio"!! At least I'm going to try. How nice it would be to get on one of those decorating shows where they come in and organize and decorate your whole room! I know there's a way to set it up I just haven't thought of it yet. I should take some before and after pictures~~now there's a scary thought!
I am thinking I'd like to start something new~~the heck with finishing wip's!! Maybe that'll perk me up!
Alright enough rambling~~I can't even get my thoughts together~~
Off to a hot bath,Tyenol(how the heck Do you spell that?),tissues and a cup of tea!!

Germs everywhere!!

Well, I'm finally paying for my comment "I'm not getting sick this winter and everyone else is"~~what a dumb as% thing to say!! I'm paying now!! I've just about decided to duct tape a tissue under my nose~~it runs so fast I can't even catch it!!
eeewwwwwww~~
It seems when I have a few busy days in a row is when I get sick. Last week was so busy right through until Monday~~helping son get settled, went out Friday night, paid for it all day Saturday!! Went out all afternoon on Sunday and then went to a Super Bowl party Sunday night and had to be out of the house Monday morning by 9:15!! In my mind I can handle this but I guess the reality is---I can't. I knew during the night Monday that something was up and Tuesday morning there was no doubt!!
I have to say it was worth it tho~~had so much fun Friday night--and then Sunday went to the sale at the yarn shop!!! I finally got to see the Suede yarn I've been wanting~~I love it!! I broke down and bought 6 balls for the "Suede" shawl and I picked up a coordinating color for the fringe!! I can't believe that I'm actually going to make a shawl for me!! Who would have thought??? Don't know that I'll ever use it but it sure will look nice draped over the futon in my "studio"!! Also got some funky green for socks!! Can't remember what brand it is but it's a weird yellow-ey green! Then I picked up something to make my SP4 a little giftie~~which I was hoping to get in the mail by today. Needless to say I didn't make it so it's going to be a late Valentine gift!
I was disappointed they didn't have the Trio I wanted for the bag. I swear I called and they said they had it~~I must have been dreaming!
Nothing much else has gone on through the week~~it's snowing again and damp.
Off to have a cup of tea and read~~

Thursday, February 03, 2005

Title??

Why can I never come up with a cute quirky title??? I read all these other blogs and they have cute, quirky titles why not me??? Gonna have to work on that!!
Dh is sick again or I should say still--he stayed home today so I was trying to be quiet so he could sleep. You'd think that would be a perfect excuse to sit and knit??? Not so, I was so edgy I couldn't! I gave up and went out for awhile~~quick stop at the library to drop off a book I finished. Took more pennies to the bank--hope never to have to roll another penny! Note to self~~do not start another penny jar!!
Went to the lys~~I could tell I was in a crappy mood~~I could not make a decision and almost walked out without anything! I hate when I'm like this. So many things I want to do are going through my mind that I can't decide on one! Course they don't have the yarn I really want~~the Trio or the Suede but since this is no tax week and yarn is included I couldn't leave without anything!! I did get some funky bright sock yarn. It's German yarn --Stellar/Stahl ~~funny I was just thinking I wish I could find some yarn with these bright colors and there it was!! Fate!!
Sunday my friend and I are going to take a ride to the yarn shop we really like~~it's about 1 1/2 hrs, from here but it's a great shop. The no tax is through Sunday so maybe I can pick something up there. Have to see how the $$ is.
I think I need to go through patterns and find something that appeals to me besides socks. Socks are an on-going project but I need something new!!
Off to get a snack and read!!

No knitting

No knitting happened today! I had all good intentions but you know how that goes!
It was so sunny I just had to go out for awhile. Went to the library and paid my over due fine and pick up a couple books. I thought I'd give audio books a try. I know a lot of spinners and knitters enjoy them~~seems odd to me but who knows maybe I'll like it. Stopped at the bank and got penny wrappers to roll all those dam pennies from the broken jar~~that's another story.
Decided to stop in the local Thrift Store and check out the sweaters. Interesting experience~~I did find three 100% wool sweaters tho.Was hoping I'd have time today to start taking them apart but no such luck. On my to do list for tomorrow. I'm thinking the wool may be good for another cat bed~~we'll see once they are apart.
I found a couple patterns that I'd like to try--
Felted Bucket Hat
Trio Bag
Wavy Scarf
Suede Shawl
Now do I have the yarn for any of these??? Of course not! The hat wouldn't take much so I may be able to swing that rather quick~~the others may have to wait a bit. I really need that Trio bag tho~~~Oh let's be honest here~~I WANT THEM ALL~~there I feel better!!
Now I assume if you're reading this you did see the photos of the finished cat bed??
I was really surprised how the colors changed after felting. It felted rather quickly and I used a crock to block it. Took two days sitting on the heat vent to dry completely. I don't understand what it is about it that cat's seem attracted to it right away--weird!! Everyone was asking me if I sprayed it with catnip!!
At least someone appreciated my work!!
Off to read~~speaking of which~~I just heard of a new book "Not Just Socks" I'm going to have to check this one out!!
Nite

I think he approves!

All finished!!

Another Saturday

Another Saturday that flew by~~and I'm friggin exhausted!! A quick post and then I'm taking a hot bath and hitting the rack!!
Ds called first thing this morning~~I just got up~~and he was ready to start moving!! I told him "call me back in an hour or so!" . I was sooo tired~~moving was the last thing I felt like doing! After much coffee I decided I could face the day.
One of his friends brought him over so that saved me a trip which was good~~I just stood around and supervised!! I've discovered that that's what I do best!! Well after all the running back and forth we now have a small path through the garage again! I didn't realize how much stuff he had in there!! Once the weather warms up I can see that we will be able to clear more out~~finally!!
I felt bad tho at his apartment~~he needs so darn much and no $$ to get it. This is such a bad time of the year for us too that we can't really do anything right now.
When I came home I went through my food cabinets and made a big bag up for him. That made me feel so much better. Tomorrow we'll go to DD's and pick up her old microwave for him~~and a recliner.
I was making him an afghan last winter out of some camouflage yarn that he was buying~~but then he stopped so I didn't work on it anymore. I think I'll try to get some more of the yarn and surprise him with it. Hope I can remember how to do it! It's crochet and I don't do much of that! The yarn is from Walmart so it's probably not too costly.
I finished my pillow~~the knitting is really nice but I'm not to sure about the seaming it together. I think I'll look in a couple of my books and see if there's any good suggestions. I'll get a picture once it's together.
Off to a hot bath~~

Cat bed before felting

Knitting away

All I did today was knit!! Well, yes I did make Dh meat loaf for dinner~~his favorite~~not mine!
I totally forgot about the pillow I was doing for my "studio"!! I started it before Xmas and then put it aside to do gifts. I've got it almost done--just finishing up the back tonight and then I'll sew it together. I think it looks ok~~I would have liked more different textures on the front but for the first one it'll do.
Felted the cat bed and it looks pretty awesome!! I can't believe how the yarn changed tho~~I used the variegated blue wool and the dark Lamb's Pride and now it looks like a medium blue solid! Don't know what happened to the variegated?? I felted it last night and it's still really wet tonight. It's sitting on the heat vent in my bedroom drying. ewwww, the wet wool smell~~
Tomorrow I'll start my "thingalong". The book I ordered from Amazon.com finally came~~The Sweater Workshop by Jacqueline Fey. That should be interesting to do. Many different techniques in the one piece~~I'm hoping that I can somehow sew the "thing" together when I'm done and use it for a tote. We'll see!!
Nice and sunny again today but frigid~~stayed in all day! I hope it doesn't snow tomorrow so I can help Ds move some of his things to his apartment. I'll be glad when he's settled.
Ok~~off to finish the pillow!!

Thursday, January 27, 2005

I'm excited!!

I was so depressed this morning when I got up! I'm sick of the cold, the snow and no $$ not in that order! I checked my email and I have a secret pal!!! What fun this will be!! Something to look forward to~~I do have to remember that I'm a pal to someone too~~maybe I can cheer someone else up if they need it?
I know some of you that pop in won't care about this but "my pal" has asked me to fill out this survey ~~so here goes!!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high-end/natural fibers)? Do you avoid
Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I hate to admit it but I have become the dreaded "snob"~~never thought I would but after a few trips to the yarn shops how can you help it?? Can't always get what I like but I can dream!!

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I've tried spinning~haven't really given it much time. I do have a couple spindles and a old wheel that I was able to get last summer at a really good price. I bought it mostly for a decoration never thinking that I actually could use it!
I can crochet the basics ~~like knitting so much more!

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
Not really~~don't like smoke smell ~~

4. How long have you been knitting?
I was taught to knit when I was very young by my Mom-~~which is one of the memories that I cherish! When I knit I often think of her and wonder what she would think to see what I'm working on!

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
no, I don't~~didn't know there was such a thing

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Hmmm, I like many but I'm really liking Yankee Candle Sage and Citrus.
Lavender is a great bath scent!

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Goes without saying!!! Chocolate??? Hand it over!!

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I was into rubber stamping for awhile but it got to be so expensive to try to keep up with the latest so I've stayed away from it.
I like beading and am thinking of trying to do some beaded stitch markers.
I love counted x-stitch and still do that when the mood strikes. I love the primitive samplers not cutesy. Guess I'm a snob there, too?

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if
you want to make her a CD)
I like country ~~light rock~~yes, I can play CD's

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color
family/season/palette you prefer?
I absolutely love fall colors!! One thing we do have here in western NY is beautiful fall seasons!! The rusts, golds, browns are stunning!

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
Now it's just Dh and I at home. DD and DS are on their own. Ds has been moved for a couple months ~~pets??? Of course, what's a house without pets??? I have a retired greyhound,Ivy and a aging Shih tzu,Houston. Two Blue&Gold Macaws, a Yellow-nape Amazon and a African grey!!

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
At our ages I just wish we were financially secure~~which we are not. I want to see my kids settled and happy in their lives.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I can't say I have a real favorite~~I really enjoy making socks. There are quite a few yarns I would like. I do like the handspun look thick/thin~~.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I really don't care for all the fun furs~~the type from the craft stores

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I'm so trying to figure out how I can get the yarn to make a Trio bag!! I saw it on here and I have to have it!!

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I like to do socks ~~just plain ones but with nice yarn. I do enjoy felting.
And I love tote bags!! You can never have enough!!

17. What are you knitting right now?
I'm just finishing a felted cat bed for my DD's cats. I can't wait to felt it!!
I'm also making a pair of socks for me~~thanks to Fibro it seems my feet are never warm any more. I have some Lamb's Pride to do a felted bag--haven't started it yet.

18. What do you think about ponchos? (this is really a curiosity question
for us)
I didn't like ponchos the first time they were popular!! Some now aren't too bad but I'm still not crazy about them!

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I use both ~~depends on the project. Use a lot of dpn's with socks. Did learn the Magic Loop method and it is faster. Now I'll have to invest in some long cable small diameter circulars.

20. How did you learn to knit?
Mom~~cause I drove her crazy when she was knitting!!

21. How old is your oldest UFO?
Right around Christmas I started a pair or socks for me that I'm just getting back to!

OK, now that's done and you know more than you wanted to!!
Off, to felt!!

Sunny day

Absolutely beautiful day today!! The sun was shining and the sky was so blue!! It was so cold tho--the high was 7!!! They say by midnight it's going to be 0 and stay that way through Sunday. We have a huge snow storm on it's way ~~should be here by morning! Course half the time the news media gets everyone all worked up over this and then we get an inch!!Maybe we'll be lucky and that'll happen this time!
I just had to get out for a little while~~went to the library and looked for some knitting books. They really don't have any good ones--most of them are so dated. I did pick out two on machine knitting~might be interesting.
When I got back I still wasn't ready to stay in so I put Ivy's coat on her and we went for a walk! She loved that!! We managed to go for about 20 minutes~~that was enough for both of us~~my face was freezing!! Ivy kept walking right against my leg--not sure if she was getting tired or trying to stay warm! She looks so cute in her coat! People look at us really weird when they drive by~you really can't miss her!!
Worked on "the scarf" on and off all afternoon~~had a couple more inches done when I noticed quite a few rows back a big mistake!! I must have got side-tracked and started following the stitches instead of the seed stitch. So of course I frogged all the way back~~what a waste of time! While watching TV tonight I knitted and got as far as I originally was~~then I quit!
Made a pot of soup and biscuits for dinner~~really good!! I love soup simmering on days like this. The biscuits are very similar to the ones at Red Lobster. I never made them before and we both like them. I'll have to remember them.
Off to soak in a hot bath and then bed to read!
Nite
<

Too cold~~

Way too cold for me still!! The sun was out for awhile today so at least it looked nice. The sun shining on the snow is so pretty when the snow is fresh. Doesn't make me want to go out there but it's nice to look at!!
Did do some cleaning and laundry today~~didn't finish because that darn yarn was yellin so loud I had to work with it so it would "shut up"!! After four or five starts I've got that darn Wool-ease scarf going. I don't know what the problem was but I could not get it started. Hated the pattern,cast-on was too loose, dropped a stitch~~then it dawned on me~~it's the yarn!! It doesn't want to be this scarf~~too bad ~~get over it I need a scarf and your it!! Once that was settled things went a bit smoother. By that time tho my shoulder and back were screamin "break" !! So as of right now I've only got about 6-7 inches done in seed stitch. Hopefully tomorrow I will finish it!
My minds been spinning with all the projects I want to do all of a sudden! Why do I do that when I'm starting something I really don't feel like doing? That only makes it worse! Not quitting tho--I'll definitely finish it before starting anything else!!
I tried quite a few times this afternoon to get the RAOK group blogs listed on here and I can't do it! How annoying~~sometimes I really do hate this thing!
It's late I'm going to bed to read a few minutes~~
Nite

No, it's not knitting!!

Start of felted cat bed

Enough!!!

Snow that is!! It hasn't stopped since early yesterday! This is payback for everyone saying we didn't get any snow this year to speak of! Turned the heat way up today and Dh and I stayed home all day~~I can't remember when we have stayed in a whole day! He worked on cleaning out his desk for the new year and I read and knitted the day away.
Wouldn't you know tho I ran out of the Lamb's Pride I'm using in the felted cat bed. How annoying is that? With this nasty weather I don't know when I'll go out and get some. I think tomorrow I will call around and see if anyone has the color I need before I go running around to all the shops looking for it. The closest lys doesn't have it~I already called them.
The bed is coming along good~~I'll get a picture on here after I'm done. I can see where these would make up really fast as long as you don't run out of yarn! I asked DD if she wanted the fun fur trim and she didn't think so but I think it would be kinda fun with it~~so you know what that means, right???? Fun fur it is!
Ok, not much more to write about when you stay in all day and knit and read~~oh yeah, the book I just finished Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz--I liked it--I never expected it to end the way it did. I must have really got into this one I felt so bad at the end!! Funny how you get so engrossed in a book~~I really can't understand someone who doesn't like to read~~must be like me and math!!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I'm finally finishing that other slipper sock for my friend!! I'm almost to the toes~~can't wait until that's done!! Then I just have the scarf and hat and my gifts are all caught up!!
Nitey,nite!

Chilly out there!!

I can not believe how cold it got the last couple days!! Hard to believe that just last week we had record breaking temp's in the 60's!!! It's crazy!!
Left for DD's around 3:15 and it took me a half hour just to get out of the stinking driveway!! Dh shoveled in the a.m. before he left for work and by the time I left you'd never know that he shoveled! At least it wasn't that really wet heavy stuff--this was light and fluffy!! The pretty kind~well it's pretty from the inside looking out anyway! I swear my poor ears were frozen and they really hurt when I got in the darn van. Maybe that would be a hint to wear a hat??? hmmm, seems to me that I did knit one for myself!
Had a nice dinner with dd--she's so funny--hates raw chicken--always has and there she is dipping chicken in milk and then using some coating crumbs gagging the whole time!! Really worked up your appetite watching her!! She did good tho~~
I left by 7 because I was nervous about driving home on the expressway. Once it got dark everything was freezing up. Saw one car that had slid into the ditch~~
On a knitting note~I started a felted cat bed for dd's cats. I've got quite a bit done. Tomorrow I should be able to finish it~~I may pick up some fun fur for the edge-not sure.
I'm practicing knitting on the usm--I figured out the ribbing. Does take some time to work it and I'm not entirely sure it's worth the time it takes.
Was so lazy today--can't shake this "blah" mood. I don't feel like doing anything around here~~I need to do some major cleaning and I can't get into it. Knittings more fun!!
Tomorrows another day!!

Busy week!!

I can't believe we are already half way through the month!! This week has flown by for me and I really didn't get much done! Everyday I had to go out for one reason or another so it was really nice to stay in today! The weather turned really cold so this was the perfect day to stay home.I never even got totally dressed!! Talk about staying comfy!
I worked on my magic loop sock~~I'm almost to the toes of the second sock!! Yeah!!! These are mine~~and they are turning out nice. They are going to be fraternal tho--for the longest time they were identical but after the heel decreases that changed! There's also one stripe of black that isn't anywhere else is either sock--weird!!
I'm also working on the "hound" throw--that is going to take forever!! 200 stitches per row--so slow going! If only I could get the knitting machine figured out then I could speed through the body part of the throw and then just add a crochet border to stop the curling. But the key word here is "if only" ~~I'm about ready to give up on it and return the darn thing. I hate to give in and admit defeat!
Still trying to get the "studio" cleaned up~~did make some progress~~now you can almost see the entire counter top~~maybe tomorrow!! Got DH to put a hook into the ceiling for my three tiered basket. Small yarn balls will look cute in there.
I want to start my "thing along"~~ordered The Sweater Workshop from Amazon.com and it should be here on the 18th~~One of the girls emailed me the cast-on amount and what the first section is so I can get started. I never knew that garter st.in the round is done by k1 row p1 row and that stockinette is k all stitches~~I never thought about it before!! See, I learned something all ready and haven't even started yet!!
Off to work on socks~~

Lousy day

I'm so bummed today~~yesterday I thought I may be getting Vertigo again but kept telling myself it was my imagination but guess what????? I was wrong!!! I am so friggin dizzy it's not even funny~~dam~~feels like when you've been drinking and it's time to stop! This is really nasty today~~if I could just keep my head straight~~really straight and not turn it at all it wouldn't be so bad. They need to make a vice type thing to hold your head straight~~can you imagine that?? lol~~
What really infuriated me was I needed to put $$ in my checking account so I called dh at work to see if he could run over and do it for me so I wouldn't have to go out~~of course not!! He had a customer coming in~~which I'll bet they didn't because we have an ice storm to top it off. I was so annoyed I hung up and burst into tears!! How pathetic is that?? So that meant I had to get dressed which I had no plans on doing today ~~let my van thaw out--it was literally a sheet of ice~~and drive over there.
Since I was out and Walmart is right next door I ran in(not literally) thank god I didn't see anyone I knew~~I never even combed my hair--that's pretty scary in itself! I grabbed a set of size 8 circulars so I can start the blankets for the greyhounds. I tried last night on 10's but they were just too big. The stitches were too loose and I was worried they'd get their nails caught.
Now I'm going to make something to eat~~just a sandwich and maybe some soup and curl up on my bed with the needles and some of the donated yarn and get started. Hope I can keep my eyes open long enough to accomplish something!!
I called the new lys and it just happens she has one skein left of the Lamb's Pride I need for the felted slipper~~what luck!! She's holding it for me until Sat. --I should be fine to drive that far by then!
Off to knit~~~

New Knitting Machine amongst the chaos!!

First Sock of the New Year!

It's early

and I'm here already!! Weird!! I'm in a horrid mood today~~I'm annoying myself! Now you know you're bad when you can't stand yourself!!
I need to start a new project to perk me up~~and nothing that has anything to do with cleaning! I've still got xmas stuff to put away--which means getting the boxes out of the attic~~and I hate doing that! Just pulling those steps down is a pain!
I did finish my first pair of socks for the New Year last night and they are for ME!!! kewl~~I'm working away on that last felted slipper I need by Thursday---I think I'll make it!!
I'm going to get going on the greyhound project!! That will be nice because it will be mindless knitting at night in front of the TV. I think I'll do some of the throws in plain old garter stitch--no pattern to worry about. The "seniors" won't care!!
Barnes&Noble just called me and the Knitting calendar I ordered is in~~yeah!! Maybe tomorrow dh and I will run up there and pick it up.
I took a picture of the chaos in my "studio" ~~I think I'll post it and embarrass myself into cleaning it up! That's for another day~~
I'm off to watch a movie with dh and ds~~~

Cayman Showing Off!!

Happy New Year!!

Better late than never~~"Happy New Year"!! Ours started out rather quietly which is a good thing! Played cards and ate all evening~~drank too but straight Pepsi!!
How exciting is that?? No one feels well~~coughing, hacking sneezing~~ewwww~~~stay away from me!! No one can believe it~~I'm not sick ~~that's weird!!
My gift certificate to Barnes&Noble was crying out to be used --so I did!! DH and I went and had coffee and sat by the fireplace~~put my feet up and almost fell asleep!!
I finally got the felting book that I've been wanting and wouldn't buy for myself! I like a lot of the projects in it so maybe that will be incentive to actually do them!
I also picked up a new Dean Koontz book I've been eyeing up. I'm trying to save it for a snowy, nasty day but it looks really good and I'm having trouble waiting!!
This house is totally out of control~~what a friggin mess!! I have got to get that tree down today no matter what!! I took all the other xmas stuff and put it in the "den"~at least it doesn't look so bad all in one spot. I hate the thought of having to go up in that attic to get the boxes--what a pain!
It's raining again--this is strange--we should have feet of snow by now! The temperature was 55 yesterday and it's 49 right now!! Wish all winter was like this minus the rain tho~~this dampness is my downfall.
I'm not motivated today~~It's already after 3 and nothing is done~~what the heck??
I'll be running around here like mad before dh gets home trying to finish up. I waste so much time some days.
I should be practicing on the USM so I can get going on the blankets for the hounds.
The "studio" is still so messy I don't even want to go in there either!!
After reading many posts on the USM I'm thinking it's a lot more complicated that I originally thought. It also does more than I thought~~if you can master the darn thing!! One woman had photos of socks she did and they are really nice~~made the first one in two hours!! I can't imagine having a sock done that quickly!! I am going to keep trying it. Hey, I've got all winter!!
Ok~~that's it--I'm off to do the tree~~and coffee
Oh yeah, take some pictures too of f/o's~~
Later~~~

Time to Relax

It's finally over!!! Now things can get back to normal~~or what passes for normal here!
Not that Christmas wasn't nice~~it certainly was. Ds stayed overnight Xmas eve~~so we exchanged gifts in the morning and DD got here around 4 so we did it all over again!! Everyone was happy with what they received and they don't need to return anything. That must be a first!!
Dh gave me the Ultimate Sweater Knitting Machine and the extension kit. My new Vera Bradley bag is just what I've been wanting~~got the back pack style so it should be easier for me to carry. New pj's will be keeping me warm on these cold nights we are getting now!! Got the cutest pewter pin--it's a tape measure with a spool of thread, scissors, needle and thimble hanging from it~~going to put it on my wool coat.
Made turkey dinner and all the trimmings and it was really, really good!! Everyone enjoyed it but ate way too much!!
After dinner we play Catopoly~~too funny~~ we gave it to DD since she loves monopoly so much and she has three cats. Course she thought she'd win but~~tada~~I did!!I hate monopoly!!!
Dh gave me a candle chandelier but I exchanged it for a different one~~I liked the one at Yankee Candle better and it takes regular votives versus the little decorative candles the other one takes~~votives are much less expensive too!!
Hopefully tomorrow the stores won't be too crowded ~~I'm going to exchange a pair of slacks I gave DH.
I was so happy the knitted socks and felted slippers were a huge hit!! All that fanatical knitting was worth it! DD called today to tell me she was wearing her socks again~~hope she takes them off occasionally and washes them! She did drop a major hint that she'd like a pair of felted slippers too!
Played with the knitting machine all afternoon~~didn't get very far tho~~kept dropping stitches and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Tried everything I could think of but no luck. I finally had to stop I had such a backache! I'm going to have to find a more comfortable way to use it. I did manage to get a few inches done~~not good considering all the time I spent. Patience is not my strong point!
Ok--off to bed~~I've got to start getting here earlier!

Two Days to Go!!

I can not believe that there's only two days left to get everything done!! Still working on a pair of socks for DD~~using the Magic Loop method so I have high hopes of finishing in time!! I'm half way through the foot on both of them~~no SSS here!!
Have one of a pair of felted slippers to knit up~~not going to felt them until the recipient can come over so she can try them on during the process.
The weather turned nasty today~~I never left the house~~matter of fact I didn't even get out of my pj's!! Did some cleaning ~the shop vac was nasty so get that emptied out and washed~~played with the birds and cleaned them. They sure enjoyed having time out!!Course getting Cayman back in was a bit tricky!! I swear he knows I can't reach him when he gets up on the center of the cage~~but all it takes is the promise of a Walnut and he's right where I want him!!
Changed the light unit in my mister and it's working much better and even picked up an extra color~~don't remember it having yellow~~now it does.
Finally got all the extra xmas odds and ends that I don't use put away. Everything looks nice~~even did the family room!! Now if I could get my room straightened out I'd be thrilled. I don't think that'll get done until after xmas tho~~
We had the sauce I made with the venison tonight--it wasn't too bad. I wasn't sure if I could eat it but I did mix it with good ground beef and there wasn't much of a difference in the taste. Gave DS a container full~hope he likes it.
Have to go work on socks ~~first a nice hot bath then knitting.

Wednesday, December 08, 2004

I haven't been here in almost three weeks??? That seems impossible but the calendar says it's true!!
Let's see ~~where have I been?? Had a nice thanksgiving with GD's family. Then went to an open house at friends. Wound up staying out really late--poor DH was the only one who had to go to work the next morning!! Way too much to eat and drink!
Then on that Sat. DD and I did gift wrapping for the Greyhound adoption group at Borders. We weren't busy at all so I got some knitting time in!I was talking with one of the members of BGA and she mentioned they are going to try to place some senior hounds. When they do and send them to their new home they are gong to include "care" packages with them. They'd like some blankets for the crates so she asked if I'd be interested in making some. How could I refuse?? That night I wrote to some of the groups I'm on and asked for yarn donations~~they need to be acrylic blankets for washing and drying purposes. Of course I don't have any acrylic yarns but have lots of time~~or will have once the holidays are over. As of today I've received four boxes of yarn!! I can't believe how generous people are!!
DD and her friend and a good friend of mine have volunteered to help with the knitting!!
Seems like I've been running around almost every day and haven't even really started my xmas shopping!! Don't know what the he&*'s the matter with me but I'm definitely not in the mood!!! DD came over last Sat. and got out all my decorations out of the attic and put back the empty boxes for me!! The tree has been up in the living room for a week with no decorations!! Tomorrow it will be done no matter what!!
On the knitting front~~I finished my mittenettes,Gd's poncho, one mittenette and one sock needed for xmas gifts! Guess I'd better get moving!!
The new den is painted and I put the border up~~looks really nice and I'm glad it's done!! Now we just have to decide what to put in there!!
Well, I'd better get back to the needles!!
Hopefully new photos soon!!

Turkey Day Eve!!

I haven't been here is two weeks!! That's weird! I've thought about it a lot but just haven't taken the time to post!
Nothing really exciting going on~~have been working on the mini-socks for the lys. I think I have 5 finished. I think I have the pattern memorized!! I'm really sick of that nasty red yarn!
I did finish my mittenettes!! They turned out really nice--now if it would just get cold enough to wear them! I love the color!
Now I'm making a pair for my friend for xmas. I'm using some of the hand spun that I bought at the fiberfest in Hemlock. I bought it for socks but decided to use it for her gift. She ordered and paid for some at the festival but the woman never sent them~~how lousy is that?
I've been is a really blah mood the last few days. The weather really sucks~~it's been so damp which gets the bones to aching! It's getting dark so early~~I swear it was almost dark at 4 today.
The "den" is painted. Molding needs another coat but for the most part it's looking good. We went and looked at wallpaper~~trying to find a border. Now instead of the lodge theme we may do the Paris buildings~~talk about going from one extreme to another!! The paper does look good tho--brought a good size piece home and tapped it up and we both like it. It's in stock at Home Depot so it won't be too expensive.
DS got a deer on his first day out! He was so excited!! Now I have a freezer full of meat! Hope we can find some good recipes for venison! Next trick is eating it!!
Not so sure about that--lol
Off to bed to read~~never ate dinner tonight and now I'm hungry.Have to stop this late night eating~~

Nice and clean!

Aren't they cute??

Time flies!!!

The past few days have just flown by! I really need to get my act together and get these Xmas gifts going!
I'm going to start the poncho for GD next. She loves the hat I did for her~~she's wearing it all the time! What better compliment could you possibly ask for??
I started the mittenettes and love the way they look--except for one major problem!!
"what is it?" you ask. The worst thing that can happen when you go to a yarn shop that's miles away and you have no idea how to get back there and you know you bought the one and only skein of the orange mohair that she had~~yup, you guessed it~~got one mittenette done and the ribbing done on the second and ran out of the mohair!! What a major pain in the butt!! Now I did ask her if that was going to be enough yarn for what I was doing---she says "oh, yeah sure it is!!" She lies~~~
At least I was able to find a solution to that problem~~went over to the lys and showed her the yarn and the unfinished item and she was able to order it !!!! Alright!! Now I'm anxiously waiting for it to come in!! Since it snowed today I'd sure like to get them done quick!!
I made the cutest pair of mini socks and I'm going to give them to Terri and the lys!! They put a nasty Xmas tree up and I told her she needs some mini socks to put on it!! She said no one would make any for them--so I thought I'd surprise her with a pair. Course they could use a lot more!!
Gave Houston a bath and haircut today--yuk! I think age is catching up with him. Usually after a haircut he runs around and plays but today he just waited for me to dry him and he curled up on his pillow. My little "ole man" ~~ now he's snoring at my feet!
Had fun Sat. with my friend. We went to a craft show--was pretty good. Had antiques and primitive type crafts~~a little too much Xmas for me. Never thought I'd say that!
Then we went and found a couple shops that were nice. We wound up on the other side of Rochester!! Took us forever to get home! Didn't find any yarn shops~~did stop at one fiber place but it wasn't too good. We're planning another outing before the weather gets too bad.
I'm off--started taking my pills again so I can finally get some sleep~~which is a good thing but I'm starting to feel tired already and it's only 10!!
Nitey night!!

Hats????

I'm really beginning to hate hats!!! How hard is it to knit a stinking hat??? Apparently it's too difficult for me!! I did that dam hat all the way thru half the decrease rows and decided it looked nasty!! I swear it got wider as I worked on it! Then when I was doing the decrease rows I put markers which I never use~~and decreased after each marker~~I should have done a decrease before and after the marker It just did not look right only doing them after.
I think part of the my problem is I'm not used to working with a solid plain yarn~~looked alright on the brim with the fun fur but hated the body of the hat. Now I can not give a gift if I'm not happy with it~~DH could not believe that I took it all apart!! Actually I couldn't believe it either~~I can't stand to even look at that yarn today! I'm so annoyed with it. Don't know what I'm going to do~~
Decided that I would not waste the day tho and I did a hat for GD using Baby Cloud in pink of course! I used the KK green knitting loom ~~mindless looming!! Finished it and it looks really cute!!
I'd like to start my mittenettes tomorrow. I could use them now--the temp is dropping and it's only going to get worse!!
I'm dreading this winter~~being stuck in sometimes is just too much!
I think I need to sit down and make a list of what I want to get done ~~I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with knitting. I don't want to let that happen because then I won't do it anymore. I can't let it become a stress point~~this is for relaxing and enjoyment. When I was just doing socks I was content with my progress then all of a sudden I'm thinking of all these gift ideas and I'm starting to feel stressed ~~doesn't take much to get me worked up!
Poor Ivy can't get used to the time change!! She's all goofed up with her feeding times!!
Gotta go!!Pooches want out!

First Magic Loop Socks

What a Witch!!

Just another day!

At least I have a good excuse for not posting for a couple days! I've been working on that xmas hat for DD's friend! A simple hat ~~you'd think I'd have it finished by now! I couldn't figure out how many stitches to start with~~every pattern I saw said around 60 and I took one look at that and knew that certainly wasn't going to be large enough. Then I kept second guessing myself thinking I made the darn thing to big! Geesh, how hard can this be??? I can do friggin socks for heaven's sake ~~a hat should be a piece of cake!!
As of right now I'm at the start of the decrease rows. I've finally figured out why I'm having trouble with it!! I don't like it! I haven't used a solid color yarn in so long I forgot what it looked like! My DD picked out a light grey for it with the fun fur trim. I like the edge but don't care for the body of the hat--it's so?? Plain! I am not frogging at this point!! I'm hoping that the decrease rows will give it a better look. I'll have to look around for some pattern for the scarf or I'll never get it done!
Worked a bit on my pillow--that's coming out pretty kewl!! I love all the different yarns mixed together. Now that would make a interesting hat!
Worked a little bit on the magic loop sock last night. It's coming along nicely. I'll definitely do another pair using that method. Need to try toe ups tho~~
Went with GD to Walmart for their Halloween contest--of course she was the cutest witch there!! Right now Dad and Grandpa are out making the rounds with her! Glad I didn't go--it's way too cold and damp for my bones!! I'm definitely not up to walking much anymore. Sure hope this doesn't get any worse.
I finally received my birth certificate from Belgium!! Glad that's done--talk about a nuisance! Now I have to find a save place to keep it. Certainly don't want to lose it again!
Off for now--going to finish that hat tonight !!!!

Long Day!!

I can not believe that it's after 1~~~I should be in bed!! My early night the other night didn't work out. Finally about 1:30 I decided to turn out the light and get some sleep~~tossing and turning for about a half hour and then the phone rings!!
Now any parent of grown kids knows that late night phone calls scare the *hell* outta you!!By the time I could grab the phone my mind was already spinning and my stomach was turning!! It was DS and he needed a dose of "home" so Dh by this time is awake and worried ~~so out we go and pick him up and bring him home.
Stayed up and talked for about an hour and then made him up a bed and everyone crashed.
Dh and I had to get up early~~not good after 41/2 hours sleep! I Had to get Ivy to the vets to get her teeth done and then do some errands. I was finished with my running around about 12 so I called the vet and Ivy was already waking up and I could pick her up. That worked out well --saved me from running back later. She was still very groggy when I got there. I'm really surprised they let her go that early in the day. The poor thing--she was all wobbly walking~~it was interesting getting a 68lb. Greyhound into the back of the van! Got her home and she passed out for quite awhile. They said her teeth weren't too bad ~~had one pulled.
She seems a little bit out of it today still ~~tonight she managed to sneak half a bowl of m&m's while Dh went upstairs!! She has never done anything like that before~~must be payback for taking her to the vet!!
Dh was off today so we went for a ride~~stopped at a really nice yarn shop ~~lot of yarns I haven't seen before. It's to far for me to go to very often~~but it would be nice to plan a trip there and stop for lunch along the way. I really shouldn't go in these shops when I know I can't buy anything but how can you just drive by???
There's something to be said for having a job! Might as well get that right out of my mind~~those days are over.
DD took me to a lecture at the University of Buffalo~~the speaker was very good. She wrote the book Nickel and Dime? ~~geesh, now I can't remember~~they say "the mind is the first thing to go" Course after listening to her I really got depressed about finances!
I'd better do some knitting tomorrow to cheer me up~
Tea time then bed!!nite

Quick one!!

Just a short post tonight~~really, really tired and don't feel well. Hope it's something that some sleep will take care of! This weather is getting to me--it's so damp and chilly~~once I get cold I can't seem to warm up until I take a hot bath~~and who the heck wants to do that in the middle of the day??
I did accomplish something today tho~~I finished the first sock on the Magic Loop!! I'm amazed at how fast it went. I've never finished a sock in three evenings and a afternoon!!I should have kept track how long it took just for the heck of it. I realize it's the knitting that's the fun part but it was nice to have one sock done so quickly! I don't even want to know how long my Making Waves took me!!
I'm now trying to find a pattern to start DD's friends hat that I'm giving for a xmas present. I'd like to have a xmas present going along with a sock then I can go back and forth. I don't usually like to have a couple projects going at the same time but holidays call for drastic moves!!
Ivy goes to the vet tomorrow to get her teeth done. I'm a bit nervous about it~~they have to be careful working on greyhounds~~something with the anesthesia. She has to be there at 8--and get picked up about 4. I've washed all the comforters so she'll have a nice clean bed to come home to.Wonder how many teeth they will pull~~yuk!
Ok--I'm off to have a cup of tea and hope it settles my stomach~~then sleep~
nitey,nite!

More projects??

What the heck is the matter with me??? I know to stay away from the lys but do I listen to myself as I'm driving by???? NOoooo--my van just takes over and pulls right in the parking lot??? What can I do after they see me pull in but go inside~~right????Just to look and say "hello" yah, right!!
Actually I did go to Joann's and A.C.MOORE first to try to find something I like for dear GD's hat and scarf--nothing appealed to me~~course I haven't seen her new coat yet so it was hard to pick something. Do you realize how many pinks are out there???? So I think I'm going to stop in Home Depot and grab a handful of pink paint chips then go over and see her new coat. Hopefully one of the chips will match and I'll take that with me to select the yarn!! Great idea, huh???
Now back to the lys~~~I was browsing and it was getting close to closing (5 on Fridays) and I wanted to get something!! The owner showed me the cutest little baby poncho and hat set she just did--it was adorable!! I thought why not do that for GD?? I think she'd love it--she's a girlie girl and the yarn is kewl!!! Of course it wasn't inexpensive and I needed two skeins of the novelty yarn and one of the regular~~but it's going to be darling!!! I hope~~~ This will be a Christmas gift and I'll still do the hat to match her new coat.
I'll take a yarn shot and post it~~~
I'm thinking if I post my yarn photos that'll keep me on my toes to actually finish these projects!!
My Magic Loop sock is coming along really well!! I'm at the heel decreases already!! I can't believe that I managed to figure this out!! I just started this sock late Thursday night and I'm that far ~~I'm beginning to think there might be something to this method!!
Have to get back to it so that's it for now~~ta ta~~

Here She Is!!

Happy Spinner????

Why on earth am I doing this now??? I'm soooo tired!! I just couldn't go to bed without writing about the Guild meeting I went to tonight!!
I finally decided to go and take my wheel. They were having an informal gathering so I figured it was now or never to get this wheel looked at!! I'm so glad that I went!!
I was a bit unsure at first not knowing anyone and they had a pretty good turnout. I hate going to things like that alone but as soon as I got there someone introduced herself(what the heck was her name?)and said "sure bring your wheel in" So off I went back out to the car in the rain to get it! We set it up in the other room so this woman could check it out while they started the meeting.
She found some yarn and did the "belt" and tried it out~~it worked!! The wheel wobbles a bit but hopefully it can be fixed.
I brought some nice roving that I got at Hemlock and she spun with that!!
She said I'll be able to use it!!
I have a couple things to take care of tho~~naturally it needs a good cleaning with Murphy's Oil Soap~~then a rub down with some Linseed Oil. A peg is missing that goes right above where the wheel turns so DH will try to fashion one out of a dowel for me. It also needs a lock nut(?) on the other side~~she said if I do that I should be good to go!!!
Sunday if the weather isn't nice DH and I will clean it up and oil it~~hmmm, "it" doesn't sound right, does it?? Maybe "it" needs a name???
I have got to try to get some sleep~~I'm going right to bed now!! It's almost 1 and here I sit~~~I'm off~~

RAOK from Debbie N

Pillow progress

Annoying Day~~With a Happy Ending!!

What a nasty day!! Talk about a change in weather~~it's cold, damp, drizzling not exactly the best of weather for us Fibro sufferers!! Could I just stay in today?? NO, of course not~~I spent a good part of the afternoon trying in vain to get an international money order so I can get my birth certificate. Now how ridiculous is it that in this whole town I could not get one?? Finally at one bank they can order them but since it's not my bank they can't sell me one! Since 9/11 they no longer will sell them to non-customers! What a complicated thing this has turned into.So I called DD to the rescue and since she works in securities at a bank she can get it for me. What a nuisance tho~~
I had a brain storm a little while ago~~now that can be dangerous!! lol~~I was thinking about these round looms I have and what to do with them?? I mean really, how many hats can you have??? I don't even like to wear a hat and I've got one!!
Well, back to my idea~~I can make DG a hat and then a matching scarf!! How cute would that be?? She's such a girlie girl I think she'd really like it! I even have some nice yarn to use already! Now that will be a fun project!!
I took a picture of my yarn mix for the pillow. I'll get that on here in a bit. I haven't worked on it since Friday but I have a good excuse! I finished dreaded sock #1 and #2 just has a couple more toe decreases to go!!! Yeah!!
DD came over Sat. and we went to the new coffee shop. Wasn't as impressed with the coffee this time like I was when DH and I went. I need coffee hot--really hot~~and this was not. The place is really nice tho and they were really busy so maybe next time it will be better. I hope so because it would be nice to stop in once in awhile~~it's so close.
DD helped me pick out some yarn for her friends hat and scarf for xmas. So there's another project!! I've got to start my sock for the Six_Sox KAL too. Everyone's saying that it's a nice easy pattern--I hope so!!
Ok, I did say the day had a happy ending, right??? Well, it did--I got my very first RAOK in the mail!!! I was so excited!!! I got mail and it wasn't a bill!! Debbie N sent me a coaster that she made on her embroidery machine! It's a basket of apples!! She included tea for me to try which I'm having right now~~and using my new coaster!
I'm going to keep it right here next to the computer!!
Now to scan it and see if I can get it here!!

Now that's fall foliage!!

Another project??

I really do know better than to stop at the lys "just to browse". Don't I????
I debated about starting a poncho but I never liked them when they were popular years ago and I'm still not sure if I like them now!! Actually there is a pattern I found for one I sorta like. It reminds me of a cowl neck sweater. I did give it a second thought but by the time I'd get it done I'd be needing something a heck of a lot warmer than a poncho!!
So after much fondling of the yarn I decided to make up a pillow to put on the futon in the "studio". For some crazy reason I seem to like the plain knit pillows using all the different textured yarns. After changing my mind numerous times I decided on five different yarns. If I can remember tomorrow I'll take a before picture.
This is not an inexpensive venture tho~~I can not believe the prices of some of those yarns!! I guess for someone who uses them for other projects and have leftovers this would be a great way to use up small amounts. Unfortunately I have no leftovers!!
Tried to get a flu shot today--what a joke that was!! People were lined up and down the isles of the grocery store waiting their turn! I could not stand in line that long so I bought my soup and left!!
Treated myself to much needed make-up!! Finally ~~I've been saying for weeks I had to replace the old stuff!!
So that was my exciting day~~great, huh???

Happy Fall!!

The last few days have been really nice! We went to the Letchworth craft show on Saturday and it was perfect weather for the show! Of course finding what I was looking for just added the icing on the cake!!
I picked up the sweatshirt I've tried to get the last two years!! And I was so thrilled to finally find a shelf that I liked well enough to buy for my "studio"!! I went with a dark cranberry color to accent the blue that's in there. Dh already put it up for me so now I feel the need to accessorize it!! It never ends~~
Monday was the holiday so DD was off from work. I went over and we had lunch then did another coat of primer in her "office". It's going to be an awesome red room!!
We had to cruise the neighborhood because one of the cats got out. The Plexiglas sheet over the broken window fell out and we think he scooted out through there. At least the other two stayed in! Hopefully he will find his way home soon.
Yesterday DH and I went out for the day--we went to Alleghany State park ~~the leaves were beautiful!! We stopped at one of the spots and found these tremendous rock formations right in the middle of the woods!! I've never seen anything like that before! I'm hoping Sunday is nice so we can take DD to see it!!
We stopped at the casino in Salamanca for dinner. We went to the buffet--it was wonderful!! I ate so many shrimp~~everything was sooo good!!!And they had my favorite chocolate chip cookies!!
So spent a good part of today getting this house cleaned up~~had to do some rearranging so I could get the plants off the window sill in the living room~~which meant getting the baker's rack out of the 'studio" and putting it back in the kitchen~~which meant totally trashing the "studio"-~~so guess what I'll be doing tomorrow?? It was way too overwhelming a job for this evening!!
I did stop in the lys ~~and picked put some nice Alpaca/wool blend for xmas socks for DH. I couldn't resist getting some funky yarn to do a pillow for the futton.
I cast on 60 stitches but decided that was going to be way too big so frogged that and started over with 50 which I think will be fine.
Finished my loomed hat today too~~turned out cute ~~now we'll just have to wait till the snow flies to see if I ever wear it!!
About the dreaded socks??????????Don't ask~~~~~~

Title???

I'm tired of trying to think up a new title every time I post! My mind goes blank~~
So I may have a lot of Mz Mar's Page!!
Beautiful weather today~~mid sixties and sunny. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow is half as nice. Letchworth craft show weekend!! I'm looking forward to going--the trees should be really in full fall foliage after all the cold nights we've had. Not to mention the craft show!!! Have to remember to wear comfortable shoes and wear layers!! Never know what the weather will be like there.
Maybe this year I'll be able to get that darn shirt I've been trying to get~~going the first day I stand a better chance of them having some smalls left!!
Going to look for some sort of shelf for my "studio" I can't stand that bare wall behind the futon!
Well, I finally did it!! Had a hair appointment today and was going to cancel it but decided "no way" I'm doing it!! Told her "cut it off!!" I just can not hold that hair dryer that long any more. My shoulder can't take it! Hair turned out really cute!! Ears aren't showing but if I want I can tuck it back and that looks cute, too. It's short in back ~~feels weird not to have that mass of hair there. I'll see how much I like it the first time I have to dry it myself! Felt really nice to do something for "moi"
Worked on "the socks" tonight while watching a movie. Have both done to the toes. I'm tired so I'm not going to tackle the toe decreases now. Maybe tomorrow night if I'm not wiped out from all the fresh air I'll get tomorrow.
Gotta go~~have to be at DD's at 9 so I'm giving in early tonight!!

Dreaded Socks

I'm still working on the "dreaded socks" don't understand why I can't get them finished!! I actually sat down an hour at a time and worked on them. After about an hour I must get up and walk around and stretch--that Fibro thing.
The good thing about that is I do get some things done around the house~~the bad thing is I keep getting side-tracked!!
I took down my aquarium and got it out in the garage so then I had to clean the corner of the kitchen where it was. Next thing you know I'm wiping down the walls in there~~~
I'm thinking my mood has something to do with the Fibro acting up and I'm actually experiencing "empty nest syndrome" Now everyone who knows me would certainly find that hard to believe!!lol~~
Weird?? The house feels so empty--I don't get it because DS was at work all day and out most night. Drove me crazy!!!
I know this mood will pass but it sure is depressing~~
Maybe I need a new project?? Who knows~~
Knit On!!!

Who needs buttons??

That's it--no more buttons~~~~well, at least for tonight!! I've just spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out how to get those darn things on here~~who needs them???
Thought I had it figured out but could only get those two to work and now I don't like the one~~well, it's staying now because I'm afraid to try to take it off!!
Just think of all the knitting I could have accomplished!! I picked up the dreaded socks and knitted for about an hour before my thoughts kept wandering to this blogging thing~~that was it. I could not keep track of my heel decreases so I quit!
Tomorrow DH works late and I'm not going anywhere so no matter if nothing else gets done all afternoon I'm working on those socks!!
We have DS's room almost all cleared out. Looks really weird with no bed in there. Walls are really a mess so there will be a lot of washing and spackling going on before painting!
My van got detailed today and what a difference!! It looks sooo good and smells so nice and fresh! Seats still aren't dry but they are predicting tomorrow to be warm so they should be fine. DH put my new greyhound sticker on the side back window. I didn't think it was going to show on the darkened window but it looks great!
Got the deer whistles on too--in the nick of time!! The deer are starting rut and they are all around our development. Coming home the other night around 8 there one was standing right in the middle of the road ~~poor thing couldn't decide which way she should go~~we just stopped until she made up her mind!
It's late so I'm off to read a bit.hmmmm think I'll post a progress photo of dreaded socks!!

Too Tired!!

I'm soooo tired ~~I don't understand it?? I'm really,really exhausted~~from doing ???
Maybe it's the cold weather we've been having ~~I'm not ready for it!!
I should be jumping for joy~~DS came over last night and took his last two aquariums!! Oh, happy, happy day!! I was just asking DD to come over and help me move them~~major job. Then I was going to get mine moved or taken down~~I really would have been ticked if I did all that work and then have him come over and get them!!
I decided to make life easier and gave my fish to his friend.
Now we can clean/paint and paper that room!!
I really planned on coming home today and getting that tank out of the kitchen--it's half empty already but no way!!! Not in the mood for that!!
Took a good portion of the hat I was working on off the loom and frogged back. Decided I wanted a wider brim on it. That was a major pain~~the fun fir kept getting tangled up with the yarn. I finally got it untangled and back on the loom ready to knit.
I think I'll curl up in the recliner and work on it for awhile now. I really need to finish those darn socks on the dpn's so I can start the new Six_Sox pattern. I won't start them until these are done. Too many things going make me nervous! I still haven't touched the pair I started on the circulars!! I was going to stop at the lys when I was out today but I was embarrassed to because I knew she'd ask me how they were coming along!!
I have to figure out how to get "things" on here--I've tried a couple times but I didn't do it right. That's for another day~~my mind is wandering somewhere--not sure where but wish it would get back here with some ambition!!
Off to knit~~~

Beautiful Day!!

This was the perfect fall day!! There wasn't a cloud in the sky,sun was shining and the trees are starting to turn!! What more could you ask for??
Dh and I got up ~~hmmm~~not so early and went for a ride in the country. We stopped for a nice breakfast and then preceded to get lost on all back roads!!
Some weren't even paved! We did find a nice little country gift shop that I wouldn't mind going back to some time.
Stopped quick at the flea market and talked with a fellow that handles computer "stuff"~~he bought the old monitor, two printers, and keyboard we had. So that was well worth taking the time to do.
After leaving there we happened to go by Antionette's so naturally we just had to stop for sundaes!! I got my usual chocolate with hot fudge and strawberries!! So much for dinner!! Then off to the market to pick up fresh cold-cuts--yum--but way to full to even think about eating any!!
This was a good thing for me to do today because the Fibro has been really bad the last couple days and I wouldn't have gotten anything done around the house.
Don't think I'm up for any knitting tonight either~~hands have been so swollen the entire day. I finally found the plain heavy zippered sweatshirt I've been wanting and almost didn't buy it because I thought the zipper was shot~~zipper was fine it was me~~hands didn't want to work!!
I've been accepted into the webring and the ROAK list~~not actually sure how this works but I'm sure I'll find out. Amazing what I've learned how to do on here myself now that there's no one around to help me!
I'm off to curl up in my chair and see if there's anything on TV worth watching!!
Happy knitting!

Mz Mar's Page

I really can't believe so much time has passed again since I've been here!!
I haven't been reading my emails either and there's a couple hundred waiting for me to go through!
Since my last entry life has changed! I'm finally mobile again!! Yeah, for wheels!!
Bought a "new" (used) van~~it felt so good going to the gas station and filling up!! Catch me a month from now and see what I have to say about that!!
So of course I spent the day running around~~went to DD's and picked her up and we went to Tim Hortons for soup and bagels--they really do have great broccoli soup!! Then we were off to Target~~had to get some Frebreze to spray the van~~have a thing about smells! Since we were right there we had to stop in A.C.Moore~~I did exchange some yarn and picked up a tart burner and some tarts~~the house smells delicious!! Then we were off to Joann's~~nothing there that we liked--that was a good thing $$ saved!
Last week I picked up a set of Knifty Knitter Looms from A.C.Moore with a 40% coupon. Didn't get a chance to try them for a few days but when I did I couldn't believe how simple these are to use. I got interested in them after reading about knitting boards. Haven't tried those yet.
Wasn't sure how the sizing works with the looms so I tried the large size first and using Wool Ease T&Q I did up a hat in a couple hours!! I never would have gotten that far using needles! The hat fits me but it's a bit snug so I'm going to try the x-large for me. I picked up some mohair look black and I think it would be fun to do the brim with a mix of the mohair and eyelash!! I don't even wear hats but I'm liking the idea of this!!
Today I did a baby hat on the smallest loom~~that's for DD's friend that's due any day now. I think I'll try to do booties too~~
I finally stopped at the lys and asked what happened to the Magic Loop class I signed up for. They said it was on for last Monday but no one contacted me so I called to get the details. She said come in and someone will show you how since you already know how to do socks. It was nice going over for an evening visit for a change. Quite a few women were there hanging out and knitting! I got a lesson in ML and sat and knitted a few rows of ribbing to get the technique down. Haven't touched it once since then!!
Still have the basic sock on the dpn's~~want to get them done because the new sock pattern is out for the Six_Sox_Knitalong and I don't want to fall behind with those!!
Ok--enough for tonight~~DH and I are going out tomorrow for the day--fall is in the air and the trees are starting to turn and it's going to be a nice day! So, I'm off to get some much needed sleep!!
I'll be back!!

R.A.O.K.

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Fiberfest Overload!!

Had a great time at the Hemlock, NY fiberfest on Saturday! Walked in and didn't know where to begin ~~
The yarns were absolutely beautiful~~every type you could possibly want!! I was intrigued by all the homespun, of course.
I went hoping to find a "Babe" wheel but didn't see any there. The only good thing about that I was then free to spend my limited dollars on other things!! And spend I did~~I picked up not one, but two spindles!! So if you get new spindles naturally you must get some roving, right?? I did purchase two different types but now have no idea what they are! I hopefully bought enough of each to make socks once spun. I can't wait to say "I made these totally from beginning to end" well, with some help from the sheep!
Ater a couple walks around the buildings I was totally overwhelmed! Too bad it was so darn cold out--it would have been nice to take a break and really give some thought to what to purchase~~but hey, even without the break I did ok.
Took a couple pictures of the Alpacas~~they have the cutest faces!! You just wanted to grab them and give em a hug!! Did see some Angora goats that were awfully cute, too. hhmmmm, wonder where I could hide one of those?
Did start a new pair of socks the other day with some yarn I got through ebay. Decided this time I would start both at once~~got to the heel flap and they were waayyy too big!! So not only one sock to frog but two--how annoying is that? Anyway I did start them again yesterday while sitting outside in the yard enjoying the beautiful fall day. Today I have the first one to the gusset stitches and I'll start the second after trying them on again to be sure they're right! I'll take some progress photos later.
Yesterday morning DH and I found a nature walk that's only about 10 minutes from home! Amazing we've lived here almost 30 years and never knew it was there. Perfect day for a hike in the woods. Found a waterfall back there and someone had some benches placed in a spot right near the falls to take a much needed rest! Next time I'm taking a soda!!
Off to knit~~have a great day

Waving!!

They are finally finished!! Spent a good part of the afternoon finishing my wave socks~~so much for "only about an hour of knitting" They are definitely worth it tho~~I'm really happy with the way they turned out~and they fit!!
This was the first time that I carried the pattern down the foot. I think I would like to try this pattern again using the no cable needle method. I would think once you get the hang of it that it would be faster.
Not sure what I'll do next~~I'm starting to get a small stash of yarn~~so at least now I have a few choices.
Too late tonight to start anything and I'm tired so I'll wait until I get home tomorrow and decide.
The weather today was nice again and tomorrow is supposed to be nicer yet. Maybe I'll cut the grass and surprise DH. Then again~~maybe not!
Can't wait until the weekend to go the fiberfest~~that could be trouble!!
Ok--going to get a wave photo on here~~

Weekend's over

What a nice weekend~~weather was absolutely beautiful!! Perfect fall weather, sunny warm with a slight breeze.
Some of the trees are turning colors already--looks like we're in store for some great fall foliage!
Dh surprised me today with a day at Mumford the restoration village. I really enjoy that place~~it's so peaceful there. I imagine that it would be a great place to work. Probably don't make much $$ but the atmosphere is wonderful.
Talked with one of the woman spinners there and she gave me a small sample of Romney roving to spin--it's sooo soft!!
Next weekend is the fiberfest in Hemlock,NY. I've never been to one so I'm really looking forward to going. Hoping the weather holds out for a couple more weeks!
Apple umkin craft show in Wyoming,NY is in two weeks and then Letchworth show Columbus Day weekend~~all these fun things coming up before the white stuff starts flying!!
Worked on my waves Saturday but just can't seem to get them finished! I'm right at the last pattern repeat on the foot and then to do the toe decreases~~probably not more than a hours knitting left. Tomorrow for sure they will be done.
I've already been looking through the patterns I have to get some ideas for my next project. Haven't heard anything about the Magic loop class yet so I guess I'll start something else.
So many ideas~~~

Another week

I can't believe that another week has gone by since I've been here!!
Had a nice b'day~~DD and friend came over for dinner and they made me my chocolate cake!!
Enjoyed my gifts~~presents are always fun!
Love getting CD's I want and won't buy for myself~~and a new sweater in the prettiest fallish(is that a word?) orange.
Now I have a DVD player all my own to watch all those sappy movies dh doesn't want to watch!!
Friday mid-day dh stopped home and surprised me with a windmill I've been wanting~~tried to put it together myself and that was NOT happening!! Saturday when he got home we did it together--what a job that was!! Have to get a picture of it.
Sunday we went to Toronto to the CNE--that was fun but a very long day. Way too much walking for me!
We saw the Canadian RMP's~~they did a performance with their horse that was excellent!! It was amazing to watch the maneuvers with perfect timing! The dog show was very entertaining as usual. They really do look like they're enjoying themselves. Always take time to watch the horse show--beautiful animals ~~
Still working on the second wave sock --but making good progress finally! Working on the gusset now and hope to get past that before bed! Already thinking ahead to the next project!
Received my bottle swap from the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whenever/ . Actually mine was sent in a box instead of a bottle but that's ok--never could have fit everything in a bottle! I was happy to get some Sockotta in a really nice blue color. Have never used this before. Also some Regia in Partie color--fun color.
There are a couple x-stitch patterns that would look really nice done up for my craft room. That means a trip to my favorite x-stitch shop to get just the right fabric!! Any excuse!!
Well, I've rambled on long enough for tonight so I'd better get back to my socks or I'm going to be up all night to make my goal before bed!!
Happy knitting~~~

Mz Mar's Page

Well here it is--figured out how to get that photo in here~~
Looks like a nice day today! Sun is shining and it's getting warm outside!
Time to cut the grass and do some trimming.
Can't wait till later to eat that ham dinner and hopefully chocolate cake!
Going to try to get some time to sit outside in the sun and knit on the waves socks~~see ya later

I guess he approves! Posted by Hello
